-----------PhoneDirectory 1.0----------- PhoneDirectory 1.0 is a small, simple database which is well suited for storing phone numbers, addresses, anything in general. Unlike larger, field oriented databases, PhoneDirectory doesn't actually require to specifically enter a phone # here or an address there... the choice of formats is up to you. INSTRUCTIONS: The PhoneDirectory directory contains three menu items: FIND, ADDNUM, and DAVID. To enter a NEW ENTRY, simply press "ADDN". You will be prompted to enter each of the lines which will be present on the final "card" Note that you must **NEVER** have less than one card in the database. (Hence, my shareware address is already entered, under David) A good format to start with is to put the person/places full name on the first line (This is what it will be alphabetized by), then their information (phone numbers, address, e-mail, etc) on the other lines. When you have finished entering the data, press ENTER again. You will then be prompted to enter a one word name under which the data will be stored (and display, when searching for it). An example: David P. Bushong: DavidB. To FIND an ENTRY, press FIND. A scrolling display will pop up. To jump to the region of the list near what you are looking for, type the first letter of that item. Note that entries are displayed by the variable name you entered at the end of the ADDN sequence. Press ENTER when you have your choice highlighted and it will be displayed. Note that if the entry is larger than seven lines that you can scroll up and down with the up and down arrow keys. Press ENTER when done viewing. To DELETE an ENTRY, simply press the calc key NXT until you see the variable in the menu, press the ' key, press the variable's menu button, and press PURG. SHAREWARE thingy: This program is far from perfect, or feature comprehensive. BUT, then again, I have an 48G and only have 32K of RAM, so it scores on the small size score (The program's under 1K), and version 2.0 should use rfug compression on the data variables (the bulk of the memory hogging) With your support by registering, 2.0 will be fast on its way. If you find this program even remotely useful, please send $5 to: David P. Bushong P.O. Box 676 Patton, CA 92369-0676 Your donation (less than 5 if that's all you can afford, or more if it's really useful to you) will get you unlimited technical support, free mailings of future versions, other progs I write, etc. If you have any suggestions/complaints/death threats, I am: dbushong@cory.eecs.berkeley.edu or check out my web page (still in its infancy) at: http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~dbushong Thanks!!
