Even before you place your first bet you'll know this is more than just another casino game. You are greeted into the casino by a line up of can-can girls dancing across the screen. They'll lead you to the main menu where you can select from six animated games: BLACKJACK, POKER SHOWDOWN, SLOTS, ROULETTE, and new with version 3.0 KENO. Three of these are card games. You'll learn how to become an expert at BLACKJACK using the ODDS menu key. It gives you all the statistics on your chances of busting if you take a hit and your odds of winning and losing if you stay. Other options include insurance, doubling down and splitting pairs. POKER matches your wit against the 48. After being dealt five cards each, both you and the 48 get the chance to bet, raise, pass, call, or fold. Next, both of you draw as many as three cards and bet again. Be careful though, the 48 will try to bluff if you give him the chance. After you've made a wager in SHOWDOWN, one card is dealt to each player. Whoever has the highest card wins. In the case of a tie the bet is doubled and a second card is dealt. This continues until someone wins. Because the cards are dealt from a pinochle deck (two of each card from nine through ace only), the high stakes of a double, triple, or quadruple showdown are commonplace. All three card games give you the choice between two different card sizes. The full sized cards give you the feeling that you're at the tables in Monte Carlo while the smaller cards allow you to see your hand and the 48's at the same time. The remaining three games are fully animated. SLOTS has spinning wheels and a moveable arm. You can move your bets around the ROULETTE table and then watch the spinning ball and wheel. New in version 3.0, KENO allows you to select up to 8 numbers. Then, your HP 48SX picks 14 random numbers. The more numbers you guess correctly, the more you win. Also new in version 3.0, the CARD CREATOR library lets you built your own casino games. Using the seven new commands, you can create decks and card graphics. As an added bonus three of these new commands let you place graphics anywhere on the display. You'll no long need to use PICT for graphics, thus freeing 1K of memory. "CASINO GAMES PLUS" comes on disk for the Macintosh or IBM. The only thing you'll need to stake your fortune is an interface cable (NO extra memory is required). You can download the entire casino game package, or save memory by downloading just the games you want. A DEMO library is attached to this message. Just enter ATTACH and then DOWNLOAD at the option prompt. All the graphics and animation of the full package are included in to demo, making it a large library. Because you can download just the games you want, the "CASINO GAMES PLUS" package will normally take up less memory in your calculator than the demo. To use the demo library in your calculator you should recall it to the stack, purge the variable containing the library, and store the demo in a port. Next, turn your calculator off and on again. You should now see the casino demo library in the library menu. To purge the library first detach it from the HOME directory. "CASINO GAMES PLUS" can be ordered from EduCALC at 1-800-633-2252 ext. 360, stock #2281 for the IBM and #2282 for the Mac. If you purchased version 2.0 or earlier and mailed your registration card, you should be receiving an update notice. If you do not receive this notice by April of 1992 or did not send in your registration card, you can receive an upgrade to version 3.0 by mailing a check or money order for $2.00 to cover postage and handling and your original 3 1/2 disk to ...
