Keyw: sky: a pocket planetarium Date: Sat May 11 1991 Hi, This is my first upload here, a planetarium that was inspired by all of the great astronomy software here, especially Finseth's moon phase. To run the program, first you must set your loaction by STOring your latitude and longitude (in degrees) into the variables LAT and LONG. Then STO the hours you must add to your time to get universal (Greenwich) time into the variable ZONE. These variables are on the second page of the VAR menu. DO this only once unless you move. (If you live near Phoenix, it's allready set.) Press the NOW key on the first page, then SKY, wait until the ticking stops and scroll around the sky, taking note of the 100 or so brightest objects in the sky. (Thats about all I can see from the city.) Instead of now, you can enter any date and time, or instead of SKY try SUN or MOON. Precede the date and time with a planet number and press PLANET. Convert between Equatorial, Ecliptic and Horizonal coordinates just like in Duffet-Smiths book. Use C->E, E->C, with equatorial or ecliptic coordinates on the stack or C->H or H->C with the date and time as well as the coordinates on the stack. A better description and other display modes will be posted soon. Let me know if you like this program, Thanks Chris Heilman bitnet address: HEILMAN@MARICOPA.PC internet: HEILMAN@MARICOPA.PC.edu
