Extract2 Ver 1.7 - 09/21/89 An UnZIP/UnARC/UnLZH Utility Copyright (C) 1989 FreeLance Programming. All rights reserved. [Included on Goodies Disk #3 with permission. -jkh-] Extract2 (tm) is a utility designed for working with archive files. It provides list/text/extract capabilities transparently across .ARC, .ZIP, and .LZH files. The program will automatically detect the appropriate file type, and will search for all three extensions if the input file spec does not contain an extension. Run Extract2 with no parms for a display of the correct usage syntax. [Note: The version on this disk is for 80286 and 80386 machines only. -jkh-] Compatibility: This program is currently compatible with archive files created by the following programs: - SEA's ARC, thru version 6.00 (excluding version 1) - Phil Katz's PKZIP, thru version 1.01 - Yoshi's LHARC, thru version 1.13 Limitations: - Will not handle the long obsolete version 1 .ARC files - Will not extract or test encrypted members of .ARC files - Will not process self-extracting .ARC or .LZH files (.ZIPs are ok) - "UnCrunching" has been thoroughly tested for the current "Crunch" algorithm. However, older versions of .ARC used a number of different algorithms, all labeled "Crunching". Although every effort has been made to assure that the handling of the older algorithm(s) is correct, I have been unable to actually test this code, as I have no .ARC files with members compressed using those algorithms. Should you discover any problems while using Extract2, I welcome hearing about them. Bug reports can be mailed to the address below, or you can leave a message (to "Sysop") on my BBS (phone # shown at the bottom of this file). When reporting bugs, a copy of the .ARC or .ZIP file you are trying to process should be included along with a complete report of the problems with trying to process it.
