BLACKJACK by David Sprenkle To start Blackjack you first go into the blackjack directory and press the "pro1" menu key. This gets you into the opening screen where you can change the game rules. If are just a beginner or don't care about the different rules just press "start". If you just want to play, skip over this next part, and continue with "Status Screen". OPENING SCREEN The first menu key "DECK" This controls how many decks are used in the game. If you do not have a preference, use one deck; it makes the game faster. The second menu key "D HIT" This controls whether the dealer will take another card when it has a Ace and is using it as an 11 instead of a 1. That is called a soft hand. When the screen above the menu key displays "H S17" that means dealer will hit a soft hand that totals 17. When the screen shows "S S17" the dealer will stand on a soft hand that totals 17. The third menu key "D DW" This controls whether the you can double down on the first two cards. If the screen shows "DD ALL" then you can double down on any first two cards that are lower than 12. "DD 9>=" when total is nine or greater and less than 12. "DD 10>=" when total is ten or greater and less than 12. "DD 11" when the total is 11. The forth menu key "B-PAY" This controls whether a Black Jack for a player pays two to one, or pays three to two. STATUS SCREEN This screen tells you how much money you have and how much you are betting. Loot is how much money you have and Bet is how much money you are going to bet. The first menu key "DEAL" This key gets dealer to deal the cards. You can press this key right away if you are happy with the bet and loot that are displayed. The second menu key "C BET" This key will change the amount that you can bet. When you press it, it will ask you for bet. Type in number value up to your loot and then press ENTER. The third menu key "CLOOT" This key will change the amount of loot you have in the same manner as "C BET". The forth menu key "END" This will end game. PLAYING SCREEN The first menu key "STAN" This key will allow you to stand on your hand. The second menu key "HIT" This key will allow you to get another card. The third menu key "SPLIT" This will allow you to split the first two cards that have the same value. You only can split once per hand. It will show one hand first, then when you are through with it, it will show the next. The on-screen display after the hand may be a little confusing but it does keep track of the hands and will pay off accordingly. The forth menu key "DD" This will allow you to double down on your first two cards. It is effected by your choice in the status screen. You can not double down after a split. The fifth menu key "INSU" This will allow you to take insurance if the dealer has an Ace showing. You must choose it before you do anything else. If dealer has blackjack, you do not lose your bet. If he doesn't, you lose half your bet. That is about it for this program. I am not going to go into how to play blackjack because there are books everywhere on it.
