"FAQ" stands for Frequently Asked Questions. You can create the FAQ.TXT file by running FAQ.EXE on your PC. IT'S MANDATORY READING. READ IT. ALL OF IT. The obvious reason is that you'll learn a lot as you read it. But there's also a socially important reason. You know how it can be very annoying when you're having an intelligent conversation with a group of friends, and then somebody walks up and tries to butt into the discussion without a clue about what's already been said? Well, the same is true on the Internet. Newbies are always asking questions that have already been asked and answered a million times, so FAQ files were created for each newsgroup. Newbies are expected to read the FAQ before posting any questions. This helps minimize the "wasted bandwidth" of repeated questions and answers. The HP 48 has its own newsgroup on the Internet/Usenet called "comp.sys.hp48". Since it is a very lively newsgroup, with many postings each day from all over the world, its FAQ is constantly growing. Andre Schoorl is its current maintainer, and he's doing a great job. Please take the time to read the FAQ on this disk, or the current version if you have internet access (see ONLINE.TXT for the web & ftp locations). Warning: Although the readership of comp.sys.hp48 is an intelligent and patient bunch, they often ignore posted questions whose answers can be plainly found in the FAQ or in the HP48 owner's manuals. So read those first... and then come join the fun on comp.sys.hp48. -Joe Horn-
