UNIX2DOS - Convert Unix Text Files to DOS Text Files Copyright 1995 Version 1.1 - February 10, 1995 By Mike St. Clair UNIX2DOS will convert text files that follow the Unix convention to the DOS convention by inserting carriage returns before each line feed. UNIX2DOS is Freeware. This means you are not required to pay any license fee to make legal use of it but the author retains ownership and the copyright. UNIX2DOS can be freely distributed as long as no charge is required in excess of the cost of distribution. This file (UNIX2DOS.DOC) must be included with any copy of the program. There is no warranty that UNIX2DOS performs any useful function. Still I would be delighted to hear if you liked it or it has been useful, to accept reports of problems and to receive suggestions for possible future enhancements. I wrote this program to support my electronic newsletter, PAF Review. When I began posting text versions on the Internet I found that it was desirable to follow the Unix standard for text files rather than the DOS standard. This required that I remove the carriage return characters leaving only line feeds between lines. Since some DOS programs demand that the carriage returns be present, this program will allow them to be easily inserted in the files. To convert a file, issue the command "UNIX2DOS filename". The original file will be renamed by replacing its file extension with ".UNX" to allow you to reverse the process. Instead of a single file name, you may use a standard DOS wild card specification. (e.g. *.*, test?.txt) If the files to be converted are not in the current directory, you may prefix the file name with the complete path specfication; one that begins with the drive letter and the root directory. Just some documentation corrections that were missed in the wee hours of the morning.
