Version History of C64-Connect 0.95 - First public version of C64-Connect. There was still many bugs and many important features were half-implemented. 0.96 - Pressing a key on keyboard takes you to first program which name starts with that letter. - One can now remove programs from load-menu within C64-Connect. There's no need to edit C64FILES.LST with Edit or similar text- editor anymore... - Both PC and C64 now inform user that they are waiting for another computer to start transfer. With version 0.95 it could look like the program had crashed, especially on C64. - It's now possible to use any of LPT-ports (1-3) with C64-Connect. It will automatically find out which port is used (in which port the cable is). At least it should work. I have only one parallel printer port on my PC and can't test whether it works or not. Could someone who has two or three LPT-ports test this? - Testmode. If C64-Connect doesn't find the cable in any LPT-port, it asks user whether he/she wants to start C64-Connect in test- mode or quit to DOS. This feature is implemented for those who want to see what C64-Connect looks like before they make the cable. No transfers are even tried to do in this mode. - Doesn't try to transfer over 50 KB programs from PC to C64. Programs over 50 KB in length should be partially loaded to RAM that resides under the IO-area of C64. Currently this can not be done. 0.97 - There was a serious bug in C64TOPC. Earlier versions left four lines of the user port to transmit-state after the transfer from C64 to PC. PC tried to use these lines at the same time. This could burn CIA2 of C64, a chip that drives user port. DON'T USE EARLIER VERSIONS OF C64-CONNECT (0.95 or 0.96)! - On PC there is now a text "PAGE x/x" at the right side of the screen to inform user which part of program list is on screen. - C64-Connect doesn't allow to import over 300 prgs to load-menu. This is not any stupid crippleware restriction, it is because there is not enough memory for 50 KB program and over 300 16-character program names and their 8-character filenames for PC in one datasegment. I'll fix this in next version. Earlier versions would simply crash when one tried to import a program when there already were 300 of them. - C64TOPC now shows some instructions when it is run. 0.98 - First international version with English documents. - C64-Connect now displays an error message if file C64FILES.LST is missing. - Fixed a bug in PCTOC64. Transfer from PC to C64 could jam on slow PCs. - There is no limit of 300 programs in load-menu anymore. Now C64-Connect can handle up to 1200 programs, which is 20 screen- fulls. If someone still (I don't think so) has problems with this limitation, contact me and I'll try to fix it to next version.
