Last Words +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 1. Introduction | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ See HISTORY.DOC for all changes. Otherwise, Enhanced End of Message is a PPE which replaces your end of message prompt with a nice and attractive hotkey and lightbar driven prompt. Since this was written in PPL 3.0, you must be running PCBoard 15.2+ in order to use this. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 2. Packaging | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Your zip file should contains the following files: EEOM.PPE Enhanced End of Message PPE EEOM.DOC Documentation (you are reading it now) EEOM.PCB The "header" printed just before the PPE EEOM.HLP Help screen EEOM.CFG Configuration options LB.CFG Lightbar text and colours STRINGS.CFG Text strings INSTALL.BAT For those lazy people. :) HISTORY.DOC Revision history. OTHERDJP.DOC Other stuff I've written. FILE_ID.DIZ File (zip) description PWA.NFO PWA info file. TSP.NFO My bbs ad. If any of these files are missing, be warned that you may have a copy that has been tampered with. If you have any extra files, they are extraneous and unnecessary. Typically, my bbs ad may not be there, which is not a problem. However, the idiots who contribute this to the fidonet backbone (usually originating from the Clipper Workshop BBS) edit the FILE_ID.DIZ, remove PWA.NFO and OTHERDJP.DOC, and insert their own bbs ad which is bigger than most ppe's. Just be aware, since who knows what other stupidities they may pull. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 3. Installation | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ If you are upgrading from any previous version, simply replace the old EEOM.PPE. From v1.1 to v1.2, one extra line (#3) was added in EEOM.CFG, so take a look at the one included in this version for the description. In v1.3, a bunch of new text strings was added to STRINGS.DAT. Please refer to there for more information. All other config files remain the same as before. For a new installation run INSTALL.BAT. Alternatively you can manually edit your PCBTEXT and have prompts 197 and 612 point to this ppe. Ie: !C:\PCB\PPE\EEOM\EEOM.PPE +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 4. Configuration | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Edit EEOM.CFG to change the two options available inside. Edit LB.CFG for text and colours associated with the lightbars. Edit STRINGS.CFG for all text strings and prompts which get printed. Each file is rather small and could have been put in one big file, but it is more organized in this manner. Edit EEOM.PCB for the header that is displayed before the main command prompt is printed. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | 5. Last Words | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Just about every PCB system I'm on uses either CEOM or an old CIA Footer ppe. CEOM by MS is nice and all, but seeing either 3 or 4 lines for a prompt such as this drove me nuts. As for the CIA Footer ppe, it just wasn't very configurable. So hence, I broke down and wrote this out of fear of going insane. If you are interested in hard-coding your configuration for maximum speed, feel free to drop me a note and include a copy of all your config files. Otherwise, if you need to reach me for some reason, you can send internet email to "drew@xinet.com", or leave me a message on Attitude Net, or call my board: The Silicon Phalanx at 310-575-8567 and apply for access.
