How to Use ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- What is PCBText Ed ================== PCBText Ed is a program for editing PCBTEXT files. PCBTEXT files are files that are used with the PCBoard BBS software. (v.14.5 - 15.0 - 15.2) The PCBoard BBS software is copyrighted by Clark Development Co. Inc. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why PCBText Ed ============== PCBText Ed replaces the original MKPCBTXT program almost compleatly. Having a much more user-friendly environment it is extramly easy to use, and also has lots of new and improved features. The only thing that PCBText Ed doesn't do are the following : 1 - It doesn't supply the original lines found in MKPCBTXT. 2 - It doesn't support the /UPGRADE command line switch. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- How to REGISTER !! ================== Registering PCBText Ed is easy. Send the Registration fee to us, and we will send a key to you. The key should then be inserted into the KEY field in RGEGISTER.EXE, with all the other information entered correctly into the other fields. This is what REGISTER.EXE looks like: PCBText Ed Registration Program V1.0a (C) 1996 Slob-Trot Software Oy Ab °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° °°°°°°°°°ΙΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝ»°°°°°°°°°° °°°°°°°°°Ί Company Name : Your company name here Ί°°°°°°°°°° °°°°°°°°°Ί Your Name : Your name here Ί°°°°°°°°°° °°°°°°°°°Ί Address : Your address here Ί°°°°°°°°°° °°°°°°°°°Ί ZipCode : Your Zip code here Ί°°°°°°°°°° °°°°°°°°°Ί City : The City you are in Ί°°°°°°°°°° °°°°°°°°°Ί Country : The Country you are in Ί°°°°°°°°°° °°°°°°°°°Ί State : The state you are in Ί°°°°°°°°°° °°°°°°°°°Ί Ί°°°°°°°°°° °°°°°°°°°Ί Reg. Run PCBED.EXE and select OPTIONS ---> SET PCBDIR This should be the directory in wich PCBoard is usually run. (C:\PCB\NODE?). If this is not correct the Shell out to % Line function might not work correctly. then: select OPTIONS ---> SET PCBedit dir Put the full path and filename to the application you wish to use for editing files with (C:\PCB\PCBEDIT.EXE), when shelling out on % Lines. You are now ready to use the PCBText Editor application. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- How to use ========== Run application by typing PCBED.EXE and press return. You can give the file you want to edit as a switch (e.g. PCBED.EXE c:\pcb\gen\pcbtext.fra) Move selectorbar with arrow-keys / Page-UP/DOWN / HOME/END Load file: FILE-menu ---> Load ----> PATH+FILENAME Save file: FILE-menu ---> Save ----> PATH+FILENAME Edit line: Edit menu ---> Edit line (or simply press return on line) Quit without saving changes: FILE-menu ---> Exit ---> Exit without saving Insert colors into line: When editing line press ALT-A - Select a color and press return. Copy a line to a file: Move selectorbar onto line, TOOLS-menu ---> "Line to file" and enter path+filename. This moves the text from the line into a file, and puts the file as a %Line in the PCBTXT file. Shell out and edit file in % line: Move selectorbar to line, press CTRL-RETURN This does not work if you have not set the PCBdirectory correctly! Change how many lines are on the screen: OPTIONS-menu ---> select one of the three (25 / 28 / 50) options. Set PCBdirectory: OPTIONS-menu ---> Set PCBDir ---> enter the full path to the directory you run PCBoard in. (e.g. C:\PCB\NODE1) Set PCBText editor: OPTIONS-menu ---> Set PCBText editor ---> enter the full path and filename (e.g. C:\PCB\PCBEDIT.EXE) Show ASCII chart: TOOLS-menu ---> ASCII chart PCBED Supports command line switch /I:x ! (Same function as in MKPCBTXT.EXE) NOTE: You can not save changes you have made to a PCBTXT file while if is in use by PCBoard. You have to shut-down the node using the PCBTXT-file! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PCBoard BBS software is a registered trademark by: Clark Development Company Inc.
