It supports systems that have more than 1 CD-ROM drives, and it also has a useful catalog that allows the program to identify what CD is in and it also holds the name of the disc and the name of the tracks it holds. This is useful if you want to know fast what CD is in and what track is playing etc. CPlay is SW, and you are encouraged to register this if you use it. The fee is about 3 dollars (or the same amount in finnish marks). So this is CHEAP. Others say that their software is cheap, but this really is... Register it right away. Look at the end of this documentation for info about address and all the expenses. 1. Starting CPlay If you only have one CD-ROM, you can start CPlay simply by typing: CPLAY.EXE If you have many CD-ROM drives and you don't want to use the first CD-ROM, use it like this: CPLAY.EXE /CD x x is the number of the CD-ROM. 0 is first (and default), 1 is second etc. Also you can aquire this information by typing: CPLAY.EXE /? Thats it. Now you should have the CPLAY menu in front of you. If not, refer to errors-section. 2. The main menu Now the main menu divides into 4 parts. ** PART 1 -- The most upper part The first part tells how much data is there in CD-ROM in Megabytes, what the version of the MSCDEX is installed and what CD-ROM is used. ** PART 2 -- The disc/track information This has 2 sections. The first tells the name of the current disc and the second the name of the current track. Both of these are user definable. This section also tells the number of the current catalog. Since one catalog may hold up to 59 (in SW version there is only 1 catalog, and it may hold 10 CD-entries) CD-entries, the use of multiple catalogs is in place. You can change the catalog with the command [L] ** PART 3 -- Playing status This tells what track is playing (or in what track are we stopped), the number of all track. It also tells how long has the current track (upper time index)/current disc (lower time index) been playing. Note that the time indexes are not real. They move in real time, but if you pause the song will halt and continue when you continue playing. ** PART 4 -- Commands This part has all the commands. The character in brackets is the key to invoke the command. The command signed with '*' are not available in ShareWare version. [,] Prev. track -- Jumps back one track. This function starts playing if it isn't already on. [.] Next track -- Jumps to next song. This function starts playing if it isn't already on. * [J] Jump to a track * -- Displays the known catalog of the current disc and highlights the song * that is currently playing and let's to choose the track to jump. [O] Open door -- Opens CD-ROM door. Stops playing before opening if it is playing. [C] Close door -- Close CD-ROM door. [P] Start playing -- Starts splaying from the beginning. No matter if the CD is already playing. [S] Stop/pause -- Stops a song from playing. * [R] Resume * -- If you have stopped a song, you may continue it with this command. For * an example, you can stop music when you do something with a tracker, and * you can continue it later. [E] Edit disc info -- Lets you to modify the current disc catalog information. It the menu that this provides, you can see the command keys highlighted in the left border. Within this menu you can also delete catalog records. Just select [0] (Delete) and you have another menu. One which allows you to scan through the songs and other that deletes a record. What to do is this: First select [V] (view records) and scan through 0 to see what you want to delete. Memorize the number and type it on screen. You will be show the data it holds. The select [D] (delete a record) and type in the number. Select [Y] (Yes) and there it goes! * [L] Change catalog * -- Cause one catalog may only hold 59 different CD-ROM discs (in SW it may * only hold 10), this command allows you to swap to different catalogies. * This version supports 3 different catalogs, so the actual amount of * entries is 179. In SW there may only be 1 catalog. [Q] Quit -- Quits the program and exists to operating system. [U] Update screen -- Redraws the entire screen. Use it if you see some kinds of bugs in the display. Send it to me in a letter, if you want. If I look that you have done good job, your name will be shown in the future versions. * [T] Reset CD-ROM * -- Resets CD-ROM. Stops playing and resets all internal counters etc. Use it * if you have some SERIOUS problems. * [B] Blank screen * -- This is just a normal screen blanker. Puts the screen to blank and does * nothing but wait for you to press a key. This is useful if you play CD:s * and just want to listen. Thats it. 3. Final words Well... Almost final... I hope that you have use to CPlay. I do. If you like this even a BIT, please register. But more in that in chapter 4. Oh. BTW. I do not take any responsibility what might happen to you, your machine, your pet or anithing that you know/have. And the SW-version might have some bugs in it, cause it is not áeta-tested. So register if you want away from possible bugs. 4. Contacting, Registering, etc. So if you like/use this program, please register (if you haven't already done that). By registering you will support me and the idea of ShareWare. You will have your name also in the future versions. So the fee is $3 + enough to cover postages, an envelope with your address and a disk. If you want to save, send one of your own PC- HD-disks, that do not have a virus, and they work. Then I'll send you as soon as I can you very own registered version of CPlay yo you! But if yo send me a broken diskette and do not send me enough money to buy a new one, you will now receive CPlay. But if you want, I can send you a note that asks for a new diskette. Remember! With these prices I am not running a charity office. You can spread the SW version as you like if this text stays with is UNCHANGED. And if it makes to a major (or minor) CD-collection, I would like to know about it. That all... So here is all the useful data: Fee : $3+envelope,postages and a disk Time of answering: 1 day to 1 month Address : Jere Sanisalo Kappalaisenkatu 6C14 50170 Mikkeli/Finland
