4Ed v1.00 4DOSų File Description Editor -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- What is 4Ed?? 4Ed is a description editor for the users of 4DOSų dos-shell enhancer. This allows you to edit/make/change file descriptions much more easily than using the 'DESCRIBE' command. Requirements to use 4Ed: o 4DOSų shell enhancer o 256k memory o 286+ processor o Mouse optional How do I use 4Ed? To use type: 4ED [Enter] at the 4DOSų prompt. 4Ed will load, read the current descriptions and then you may select the file you want to describe. Keyb.: To choose a file to describe use the arrow keys to move the edit field bar up/down to the file you want. To describe the file that you have just selected start typing in the description. (The description may be upto 40 chars. in length) Mouse: To choose a file to describe use the mouse and move the cursor to the file you want to describe, then click the left mouse button. You should see the edit field move to that position. (You can also point to the top of the screen to scroll up/and point to the bottom to scroll down) To describe the file that you have just selected start typing in the description. (The description may be upto 40 chars. in length) When you are done describing the files you can save & exit by pressing [Esc] or you can abort all the changes by pressing [Alt-X]. 4Ed can describle upto 600 files in one directory, if the amount of files exceeds 600 then 4Ed will load upto 600. Should you get an 'Out of memory' error try using the /MEM command line like this: 4ED /MEM [Enter] And that will take care of it, although 4Ed will load upto the amount of memory you have.
