Version 3.21a July 31, 1997 1 IM has improved error detection for disk directory and FAT corruption. (This also includes Win95 FAT32 corruption.) 2 IM can better tolerate corrupted (or unreadable) disk directories and files. This type of damage has been found in some Win95 systems; previously IM would stop if it could not access a corrupted directory.. 3 CMOS checking has been improved to provide better and more detailed change diagnostics. 4 IM checks for known Microsoft Office 97 (MS Word 97 and Excel 97) viruses. 5 Variably named integrity data files are now selected by SetupIM's "Integrity Advisor" for most new users. 6 You can now use the /N command line switch (or the Halt option set to "Serious problems") and IM will offer the integrity data update menu if there are signs of serious problems. The /NE and /ND command line switches will continue to allow IM to run unattended with integrity data updating turned off, if serious problems are detected. 7 IM's scanner component will now recognize over 990 additional viruses including: Afori, Alarm, Amber, Andry, Angelia, AntiAVP, AntiCARO, AntiHeuristic, Apadana, Appder, Archie, Arequipa, Arianna, Atomic422, AusPara209, BUKIT, Baby, Beeper, Berylium, BlMon, Black, BlackMonday, Blackend, BladeRunner, Breaking, Bug70, CDROM, Cancerbero, CeeFour, Combat, Critico, DZT, DarkManko, DarkRay, Darkside, DeathBoy, DemoEXE, Desert, Devast2, Devastator, Doglasi, Dracula, Eel, Elvira, Emhaka, Eraser, ERRM, Face, Fire, Five_U,, Flowers, Fricker, Fuga, G_World, Gable, Gif, Gingerbread2, Goll, Goodluck, Green, Grip, Grosser, Grunt, HaHaGIF, Happy, Hellspawn, HIAC, HV, HXH, Hooter, Hungry, Hybrid, Ihater, IMI, Immortal3, Implant, Into, JAJA, Joan, Jovial, Juice, Jun8, Kalip, Kazanir, Kassasin, KeyKap, Kiev, Killer, Killsyst, Kode, Kode2, Kompu, KPI, Krack, Kraut, KVS, LTS2, Lauren, Legend, Lisa, Lockup, LordZero, Luri, Mark, Mercy,, MiniMad, Minimal, Mman, Monster, Mota, Mothership, NJDLK, NightShade, NomVir, Olivia, Oolong, Open Oval, Palma, Pamyat, Pandora, Paycheck, Pollution, Poopi, Pulso, Punch, QPA, Ramesy, Rats, Rehenes, Rhubarb, Rtfishel, SAM, Satanic, Scitzo, Sepultura, Shell, Showoff, Simbioz, Slow, Smile2, Spanska2, SpiceGirl, Strezz, Suffle, Sunnyvaley, Surabaya, Talon, Talon2, Tan, Tease, Theatre, Torero, Tourist, Trul, TwoLines, Uniba, Vampiro, Vanitas, Visit, WarCannibal, Warp, WeekDay, WhiteNoize, WildLicker, Wsurc, XXX, Xanthic, Xingo, Xuxa4, YCTC, YZ, Yeah, Yukom, Zany, Zed, Zoo, Znos, and Zyklon along with many new variants of existing known viruses. Version 3.11c February 28, 1997 1 IM is modified so that any size directory can be scanned. This was a concern when testing virus collections. 2 This release will not report macro viruses if detected in non-macro capable files (e.g. .EXE or .DLL files). 3 Eliminate detection of PSBL TROJ2 in Dr. Solomon's anti-virus programs. Version 3.11b January 21, 1997 1 IM will now prompt for a disk letter when "scan multiple diskettes" (/VM) is selected but the current disk is a hard disk. The prompt can be eliminated by using the /D or /P command line options. 2 When checking the partition sector, if you set halt to emergencies only (/NE or /ND), IM will bypass the prompt for the disk to check. 3 New program (Delfiles.exe) included with (registered version of IM only) ScanZip utilities. This allows rapid deletion of files under non-English language DOS or Windows versions (no reply to a prompt is needed for deletion.) This program is used by the IM scanzip utilities. 4 IM's scanner component will now recognize over 800 additional viruses including: Alho, Ambulance.2124, AntiSabados, Autumn, Avalgasil, Babol, Blos, Boot_446, Caffein, CSF, Caco, CatScratch, Change, Chiche, Chkbox, Claire, Claudia, Compost, Cordobes, CrazyStub, Critter, Cruel, DJIFX, DNEPR, Deadwin, Defo, Deliver.Stealth, Digi, Drepo, Ebbelwoi,Edwin, Emas, Enjoy, Epsilon, Euskara, Felices, Five_8th, Fruit, Gerd, Gerli, Grace, Heja, Hera, Holera, Hooze, IBVV, Incubus, Inside, Int40, Iota, JBaby, JTTP, Jasio, Jorgito, Karnaval, KBRflags, Kerstin, Kobrin4, Koder, Konkoor, KorWan, Kyokushinkai, Lazer, Lennon, Linc, LosLobos, LostGeek, MMCA, Mango, Mask, Matthew, Met_Moon, Midinfector, Mipt2, MMIR, Moloch, MoonLight, MrS, Nado7, Oktubre, OverDoze,PI, PMM, Pasta, Paulus, Penthouse, Pieck, Plagiarist, Poppins, PowerOff, Pro-Alife, Q.485, QDragon, Quiver, Ren, Rescue, Romania, Salman, Scroll6, Selectroncs, Seller, Shift, Shire, Shoe, Skull, Slips, StayCool, Tanpro, Teraz2, Timish, Tornado.461, TPVO.3780, Traka, TSB, Tucuman, Uest.888, Undying, Ups, VCC, Walrus, WASP, Wanderer2, WCWA, WhiteLion, WM.ABC, WM.Alien, WM.Alliance, WM.AntiDMV, WM.Atom.C-F, WM.Bandung, WM.Birthday, WM.Boom:DE, WM.Buero, WM.Chaos, WM.Clock, WM.ColorsB, WM.ConceptG-U, WM.CountTen, WM.DMV, WM.Daniel, WM.Divina, WM.Doggie, WM.Gangsterz, WM.Guess, WM.Hassle, WM.Helper, WM.Johnny, WM.LBYNJ, WM.Lunch, WM.MDMA, WM.MSW, WM.Maddog, WM.Mario, WM.NF, WM.NJ-MV, WM.NOP, WM.NiceDay, WM.Npad.F/G, WM.Outlaw, WM.PCW, WM.Paper, WM.Phantom, WM.Phardera, WM.Rapi, WM.Smiley:DE, WM.Spooky, WM.Tracer, WM.Twister, WM.Twno, WM.Waverley, WM.Wazzu.G-AE, WM.Weather, XED, XM.Delta, XM.Laroux.B, XM.Sofa, Xuxa.1984, Yosha, Zarazony,Zibbert Version 3.11a (preliminary release) (Dec. 1996) 1 IM and SetupIM have support for the new FAT32 volumes available in Win95 OEM service release 2. 2 SetupIM has improved disk recognition capabilities this additionally allows allows SetupIM to recognize Win95 system sectors correctly without booting to native DOS. 3 SetupIM differentiates IBM PC DOS 7 from MS DOS 7 (AKA Win 95) when it determines optimal system settings. 4 IM will set the attribute of any integrity data files created in the XLSTART subdirectory to hidden. This prevents MS Excel from trying to load these files as spread sheets. 5 IM will check for Excel related files (for macro viruses) independent of the file's extension (or only *.XL?) files depending upon install options. This option can be changed using the SetupIM advanced option menu. 6 Archive bits now set correctly for hidden integrity data files. 7 IM's documentation files have all been changed to .TXT extensions to avoid confusion with MS Word's convention of using .DOC extensions. 8 If no other command line commands (/Cx or /IX) are present, the /CC or /IC (check or initialize CMOS) commands will cause IM to execute and quit rather than enter menu mode. 9 IM's advice relative to resident memory changes (e.g. /CM) has been improved. This includes recognition of when the PC has been booted from a floppy. 10 The "Check" "Partition sector" and "Initialize" "Partition sector" commands now offer the option of checking other than just the current disk. This is intended for situations where the current disk is inaccessible by the operating system. (The reload menu has always had this capability.) Version 3.02a released 7-16-96 1) Integrity Master can now detect unknown viruses in memory with its "Resident program and memory" configuration check. This allows you to detect the presence of unknown viruses without booting from a floppy and also provides you a warning if the low-level configuration of your PC has changed. This check is done automatically by the "Entire disk integrity" option on the check menu or directly by the "/CM" command line switch or the "Resident programs and memory" option on the "Check" menu. 2) IM offers several new command line options: "/CM" Check resident programs and memory (allows detection of unknown memory resident viruses. This is equivalent to the "Resident programs and Memory" option on the check menu. "/IM" Record (initialize) data describing resident programs and memory "/MF=xxxx.SRL" Specifies the file used by check "Resident programs and memory" command. "/MS#" You can use the command line /MS# option (or SetupIM) to vary the sensitivity of IM to resident program configuration changes. The sensitivity can be set from 0 to 9. 0 turns the check off, and 9 provides maximum sensitivity to changes. /MS4 is the default (and recommended) setting. /MS9 is useful for for researchers and on systems where there should be no software changes at all. 3) IM identifies over 700 new viruses by name and characteristic including: 4Seasons, Alfons, Angry, Antarex, AntiDivina, AntiDMV, AOS (many variants), Asparagus, Atom, Baby, BadCom, Body, BootCom, Burglar.1150, Bye, Caesar, Chance, Claws, CNTV, Colors, Combi, Compiac, ConceptC, CroatVir, Date, Detic, Dick2, Doperland, Draculea, DST, Eliza, Entity,ExeHeader.NLA, Faulkner,Friends, Funky, Genesis, GerganaB, Gisela, Goldfish, Hamlet, Henry.IV, Hickup, Hole, Hot, Httm, Immortal2, Imposter, Inquisitor.625, Ioe, Irish, Joker3, Kaczor, Kali, Karol, Kasia, Kat, Kobrin, Koufidis, L&D, Lez, Louse, Loves, Major, Mand, MDMA, MeiHua, Mobius, Morgen, MrH, MrR, Mururoa, Nado, Neumann, Nexiv_Der, NuclearB, Nutcracker, PCA_Vir, Peligro, Pheew, Pindong, Polite, Positron, Pretentious, Proto, Quandry, R2Life, Raveica, Redhack, Redwarf, Reflex, Retail, Romeo, SayNay, Shakespeare, Spirit, StickyKeys, Syndrome, Tanpro, Tet, Thunder Struck, Tip, Trance, TV_N, Valentine, Voyage.1134, Wazzu, Were1500, XENIXOS, XGH, Xnof, Z-90, Zlanted, ZX-X. Versions 3.00a and 3.01 limited distribution beta releases. These should NOT be used after 7/15/96. Version 2.61b released 2-13-96 1) Minor fixes: /RE command line parameter and order screen (F2). 2) Agent list and our mailing address and telephone numbers have been updated. WE ARE NOW LOCATED IN COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO! Version 2.61a released 1-31-96 1) IM now offers an additional option when it finds a directory with no integrity data. It will offer to ignore (skip checking) the current and lower directories. 2) .SID files are no longer needed. Integrity Master now returns more detailed information for system sector changes and avoids reporting changes when Win95 changes the serial number in floppy boot sectors. 3) Additional support for recognizing devices under OS/2 and Win95. 4) The ReLoad menu has a new option titled, "Partition Boot code" and there is a new associated command line switch: "/RE". This will check the partition table and replace the executable code in the partition sector (AKA Master Boot Record) with a clean self-checking program. This can be used to remove boot sector viruses from your hard disk when IM has no reload data. This code is compatible with DOS 2.1 or later, OS/2, Win 95, Win NT and other operating systems. 5) The ReLoad menu has a new option titled, "Floppy Boot Sector" and there is a new associated command line switch: "/RF". This will check the disk parameters and replace the executable code in the boot sector with a clean self-checking program and can correct the disk parameters (diskette type, size, # of tracks, etc.) if needed. This can be used to remove boot sector viruses from floppy diskettes when IM has no reload data. 6) The option "Ignore Time/date changes ÄÄÄÄÄÄ> on/OFF" is now set to "on" in most cases and its function has been improved. IM will now check for date or time changes even if this options is set to "ON" but it will not display the change if the only change to the file is its date or time stamp. 7) The Windows configuration is corrected for Win 95 (in some cases the IM Windows setup program (IMWIN.EXE) would install the wrong command line switches.) 8) IM now displays (and writes to the report file) when integrity data update is turned off because of detected file corruption during unattended checking. 9) IM identifies over 600 new viruses by name and characteristic including: Achey, AirRaid, Algerian, Amazon Queen, Andris, Annihilator, Antibase, AntiCom, Antipode, Are_Three, ArmyBoots, Assassin, AtomAnt, Avalon, BABA, BadSectors, Bane, Blue9, Bobas, Bops, Boza, Bugs, Burglar, Byway, CaNTaNDo, Cavaco, CeCe, China Syndrome, CLI&HLT, Clouds, Codejrn, Cordobes, Cosenza, Crazy9, Crazy_Frog, Cybercide, Deliver, Dementia, Desperate, Devastator, Dex, DigitalDeath, DosIdle, Drugs, DR_ET, DäSäCR’TäD, Elaine, EM, Emmie3, Eternity, FatAveng, Finopoly, Fistik, Five_U,G_World, FlyingV, Forget, Frankenstein, Girl_in_Green, Gnida, Goobers, Gr0b, Grave Lion, Gynx, HDZZ, Horsa, Hypervisor, Immortal, Istanbul, Jewelry, Jungle, Kirti, Kmee, Lady Death, Lapidario, Leda, LTS, LTS2, Lutil, Mantis, Manzon, Manzon, Maresme, Markt, Merci, Mickie, Milikk, Ming360, Mirage, MnemoniX, Monica, Morbid, MSD, MULTiPLEX, Neither, Nemesis, NRLG NRLG, Ohlala, Onkogen, OpalSoft2, Paradise, Piojo, Pizelun, Plague, RatBoy2, Right2Life, RiP, Rogue, Rose666, Sarampo, Satria, Scotch, ShineAway, Sofia, Stakka, Sticky, Taurus2, TeaForTwo, Unashamed, Unholy, Unloved, Vir6T, XERAM, Xuxa0, XUXA_Park 2.60 (prerelease) November 1995 1) Detection of macro based viruses with additional support in SetupIM for macro file scanning options. Including the option to check all files for the presence of macros. (IM otherwise checks only those files likely to contain macros for the presence of macros.) 2) Windows .PIF files now run IM in full screen rather than windowed due to compatibility problems on some systems. 3) SetupIM is modified so that for new installs integrity data files are hidden under Win95 systems. Version 2.51c released 8/14/95 1. Fixes problem that occurs with buggy drivers under Windows for Workgroups 3.11. The drivers return an incorrect sector size to IM. This results in errors when IM tries to check system sectors. This fix detects the error and uses an alternate way to determine sector size. Version 2.51b released 7/24/95 1. No change to programs beyond changing release from 2.51a to 2.51b. 2.51a contained a defective GENVIR.EXE. 2.51b contains a corrected GENVIR.EXE. (The defective version did not create a correct test virus as intended.) Version 2.51a released 7/19/95 1) Add support for entering and displaying file and directory names which contain high ASCII characters (characters with a code higher than 128). 2) The new /NA option allows execution of IM with no ESCape or ALT X key abort possible during checking. This allows you to prevent someone from aborting a scheduled check invoked from a .BAT file. 3) Add /IC command line parameter to allow Initialization of CMOS reload file from a batch file. 4) "Core" CMOS checking, a new more selective type of CMOS checking is now available. Selecting "Core" will report only changes to CMOS which could affect the integrity of your data or your ability to reliably use your PC. "Base" and "Full" checking continue to work as they have before and will detect all changes that can affect operation of your PC. (SetupIM allows you to change the type of CMOS checking.) 5) IM now allows the form IM /CF:filename or /RF:filename as well as the existing /CF= and /RF= form. 6) Integrity Master has been tested and works smoothly under the new Microsoft Windows 95 system. 7) There is a Windows setup utility, (IMWIN.EXE) included to setup Integrity Master in a Windows group with appropriate icons for commonly used functions. 8) IM identifies over 600 new viruses by name and characteristic including: 2UP, 2a2, Alex, Annihil, AntiNazi, Antipode, Arianna, Armagedon, BackForm, Blava, Bravo, Caibua(Bua), Carbuncle, Catholic, Chang, Changsha, ChkSum3, Cholera, Cholera, Chukcha, Clonewar2, Coib, Continua, Crazy, D2, DARV, Dan_Zerino, Deccer, DelWin, Dieta, DiskWasher, Dragon, Dudley, E-Morph, Enmity2, Error_Vir, Espejo, Estonia, Exe_Engine, Exebug.Hooker, F-Soft2, Fat Avenger, FatAveng, Father_Mac, FaxFree2, Fax_Free, FredSoft, GT-Spoof, Goblino, Godzilla, Gonads, Gonfie, Gr0b, Granada, Gsav, HDkiller, HLL.Novademo, HS, H_Andromda, Ha!, Havoc, Helen, Hello, Hemlock, Hexametricx, Holiday, Il_Cuoco, Industrial, Infector2, Invisible, ItalBoy, Itv, J&M, John, KI, KRAD, Kakashka, Khiznjak, Khrusha, Kiwi, LAVI, LSD, LaLa, Leandro, Lemming, Lor, Loren, Lythyum, MLTI, MacGyver, Magda, Mange_Tout, Mardi Bros, Marzia, Memannih, Mila, Mirea, Mithrandir, Mongol, Monkeys Out of Control, N8Fall, Naziskin, NiceB, Nigeb, Ninja, Notfound, Oops, Outwit, PDV, PG, Peace, Pendule, Peter, Protect, Puppet, QuickSilver, Quicky, RIIHI, RMNS, Rainbow, Rajaat, Renegade, Republic, SHHS, Sabrina, Satyricon, Sayha Watpu, Scorpio, Scramble, SheHas, Smile, Stranger, Sum, Sway, Sybille, Syrian, Tigre, Trakia, Traviata, U-life, Ugur, Urkel, Uruk, VMummy, VSister, Velvet, Vlad, VladDir, Wboot, Weirdo, WildFire, Wolverine, XPEH. This is available through the Check menu as well as the "/VB" command line switch. This also allows IM to read boot sectors on diskettes that are unreadable to DOS. Researchers can use this option when testing IM since IM will also check the boot sector for partition sector (MBR) viruses. 2) New "Force update" option on the "Integrity update" options submenu. Selecting this option or using the new "/UA" command line switch will force integrity master to update integrity data for all files. Normally IM will not update integrity data for what appear to be corrupted files when it is running unattended. 3) When run from a diskette, IM will now automatically offer to change to change to another disk. 4) New easier install. SetupIM will now offer a super fast install that usually gets IM installed in under one minute. 5) IM tolerates a wild card spec on it's /P (disk and directory change) parameter. This allows you to use IM with some programs that insist on including a wild card with the directory to check. For example: IMSCAND C:\DOS\*.* will scan all files in subdirectory \DOS. 6) SetupIM changed so it will correctly recognize drive characteristics of disks using Symantec's Ncache. 7) IM will not pause even if severe hardware errors occur when the /ND command line option is used. 8) IM identifies over 600 new viruses by name and characteristic. Versions 2.40a, 2.41a and 2.41b are restricted beta versions. Version 2.31c released 11-22-94 (Bug fix release) Fixes false-positives of StonedN,ArcvD,Hbex and 388 in memory. Version 2.21u released 04-25-94 This is a UK oriented release otherwise identical with 2.21b. Version 2.21b released 04-25-94 (Maintenance release) 1) When used with the /NE switch and checking boot sector viruses IM will require only one key-press whether a virus is found or not. (Needed by researchers to test boot sector viruses using SIMBOOT) 2) The full report of boot sector viruses will be displayed even when the "/1" command line option is used. 3) IM will consistently display a header before any checking even if only a boot sector or CMOS is checked. 4) Detection of viruses using the SMEG (Pathogen) polymorphic engine. 5) Modification to accomodate some non-standard CMOS memories. Version 2.21a released 02-9-94 1) Since many people are unaware that IM can be used as a simple virus scanner, IM will now offer the choice of scanning or initializing when it encounters a directory that it hasn't seen before. This menu can be easily disabled. 2) IM will now offer several options if it encounters a corrupted file (unless you have already told it what to do using the "Integrity Update" submenu). This allows you to easily verify that corrupted files have been correctly fixed. 3) IM offers several new command line options: /F - Forces full integrity checking. This is useful if integrity checking has been set to "Quick update" as default. /NOB - No Beep. Turns sound off. /Q - Forces "Quick Update" mode. /REPA - Report All. This reports all files scanned during a virus scan or all files added during an initialize. This option is useful if you want to create a report showing all files and their check values or if you are testing a virus collection. 4) IM's change command line option (/P) now allows you to include a disk letter. 5) IM now includes batch files to illustrate its use to automatically scan diskettes and new uploads.
