Description ----------- The 4MMSony.SYS driver is provided to support Sony SDT 2000, SDT 4000 and SDT 5000 on the released version of Windows NT. Installation ------------ To install this driver, please copy all files in this directory to the root directory of a floppy disk in drive A:, and label that disk 4MMSony. Start the SETUP application in Windows NT. Select ADD/REMOVE TAPE DEVICES under the OPTIONS menu. Click on the ADD button. Select "OTHER (requires a disk from hardware manufacturer)" Insert the disk labeled 4MMSony into drive A: and click on OK. Click on OK to approve the selection of "Sony SDT 2000, 4000, 5000 4mm DAT". Click on INSTALL to install the driver. Click on OK to copy the files from drive A:. Click on CLOSE to close the window. Select EXIT from the OPTIONS menu to exit SETUP. You will need to restart your computer for these changes to take effect. Please choose SHUTDOWN from the FILE menu in Program Manager to do this. Microsoft Windows NT Hardware Compatibility List Addendum --------------------------------------------------------- The following SCSI tape drives have been tested with the following adapters using the Windows NT Backup Utility (except as noted): Adaptec AHA-1510, AHA-1542C, AHA-1640 and AHA-1742A; Future Domain TMC-1670, TMC-850M and MCS-600; IBM PS/2 Microchannel SCSI Host Adapter (with cache); Ultrastor 24fa. Sony SDT 2000 Sony SDT 4000 Sony SDT 5000 Notes ----- The Sony tape drives are not supported on the Adaptec AHA-1510 and the IBM PS/2 Microchannel SCSI Host Adapter (with cache). The Sony tape drives were tested with version 3.02 of the Sony SDT tape drive firmware. The Future Domain TMC-1670 with bios version 3.0 requires that the bios be disabled when used with the Sony Tape drives. Future Domain has informed us that version 3.4 of the Future Domain bios does not exhibit this problem. Users encountering this problem should contact Future Domain Customer Support.
