First issue:  Customer MUST use the Version 2.0 software, 
available on the on-line services.

Window 3.1 Installation:

Teac-CD ROM, the CD55A, is supported, as well as any standard IDE 
drive that would have come in the Mulitmedia Kit.

The TEAC must be connected to the Panasonic Interface connector, 
and jumper JP5 must be OFF.

The Sanyo or Torisan CD drives (or other IDE type CD drive) can 
be connected to the host computers IDE interface (jumper setting 
on the CD drive set for SLAVE), or the the IDE Interface on the 
AB3D (Jumper JP5 is ON, and the CD is jumpered for MASTER).

For the TEAC, these lines must be correct in the CONFIG.SYS:

DEVICE=C:\GENOA3D\CDSETUP.SYS /T:P /P:340 /I:X /D:X
DEVICE=C:\GENOA3D\TEAC_CDA.SYS /D:MSCD000 /P:340

For the Torisan and Pioneer drives, these lines must be correct 
in the CONFIG.SYS:

DEVICE=C:\GENOA3D\CDSETUP.SYS /T:I /P:170 /I:15 /D:X
DEVICE=C:\GENOA3D\ATAPI_CD.SYS /D:MSCD000 /S:1

Note:  The driver might be CDATAPI.SYS depending on the CD-ROM.

For the AUTOEXEC.BAT:

C:\GENOA3D\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD000 /M:12 /V

Getting these lines right should fix most CD-ROM access problems.  
For sound problems, test the sound hardware using the SNDINIT 
program in the C:\GENOA3D directory.  The installation program 
should successfully configure Wave and MIDI sound under Win 3.1x 
pretty much 99% of the time.

For CD-Audio, the [MCI] CD-Audio driver must be listed under the 
Control Panel under Drivers.  If its not there, just click on the 
Add button, then click on [MCI] CD-Audio then click OK.  You will 
be promted for the original Windows Installation Disks.

Window 95 Installation:

The SETUP.EXE program will only install the Application Programs 
for Win 95.  There is a README file that describes how to use the 
Win95 screens for the "Add New Hardware" procedure.  The device 
driver to be selected MUST be the First one listed:
  
"OPTi 929 Sound System for WAVE/MIDI".  

Note that all the other listings all mention some sort of CD-ROM.  
Do not select any of these.

The TEAC CD55A cannot be controlled through our AB3D card under 
Win 95.  You must call TEAC at 213-726-0303 ext. 860 and order 
a $16 interface card to which the CD55A will be attached.  The 
customer should confirm with TEAC that the correct Win 95 driver 
will be included.

Note: For true Windows 95 operation, there should be NO AB3D 
references in the CONFIG.SYS or the AUTOEXEC.BAT.

Most IDE CD-ROMs have trouble when connected to our AB3D, so 
they should be attached to the host computer’s IDE interface 
and jumpered as a SLAVE.  Remeber Jumper JP5 should be OFF.  
For the Pioneer and Torisan, this setup should allow Windows 95 
to auto-detect the CD-ROM and give it full access, including 
CD-Audio and Auto-Play capability.

Unusual problems usually only arise if Windows 95 was installed 
as an upgrade to a pre-configured Windows 3.1x system.  These 
problems are almost always due to unneeded entries in the SYSTEM.INI 
or WIN.INI files.  As more specific information on these issues 
become available they will be added to this document.

If unusual resource conflicts are being reported in the 
Device Manager, these problems can usually be resolved by comparing 
the settings of the customers PC to our PC in the Tech Support Room.  
Check under the Control Panel | System | Device Manager | Resources 
and check things like I/O Address ranges and IRQ’s.  Also check under 
Control Panel | Mulitmedia and make sure Wave and MIDI settings are correct.
