Basically, the question is, how do i mix drums > with regular patches in a piece - I am using cake walk for > windows. You presumably know that (for the GUS) drums must be played on channel 10, and that the note 'pitch' is what selects the instrument for drums. The answer is that you do not want any 'program change' events on channel 10, so ensure that the Patch (or whatever it says) column for you drums track in Cakewalk's track list is set to 'none' (otherwise it puts in an extra program change at the start of the track), and that there are no other 'program change' events listed for channel 10 (look in event list view). Any program changes on channel 10 will result in CakeWalk trying to cache a melodic patch for use on channel 10. The Windows GUS driver says "can't", and CakeWalk rather unintelligently assumes that this means you are out of memory. Furthermore, I believe that it then makes no attempt to cache the drum patches (... well, he's out of memory - there's no point trying). ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Nov 1993 08:49:44 +0100 (MET) From: tgakem@chem.tue.nl Subject: ooh aah synth voices The aaah choir (voice?) of the Crystal clear sample set doesn't sound too well I think, so I tried the oooh choir, and it sounded worse. As a matter of fact, it didn't faintly resemble the human voice. Then I tried the synth voice (choir? I don't remember it's exact name now) and geee! sounds like an oooh! Does anyone know wether the ooh and the synth voice have been interchanged? By the way everyone, the latest version of the Piano program, PIANO21 works with Power Chords! Thanks Gregor!
