All of the patches that came with the card are like this. The root frequency is set so that the playback pitch of the sample is correct for the sampling rate specified in the file, while the low and high frequencies are set to the MIDI note for that instrument. Apparently the MIDI drivers are smart enough to know not to pitch-shift percussion samples (as would normally happen if the root frequency is different than the note-on frequency). -- aa344 is Joseph Maruschek 3 3 3 3 3 IBM PC SIGop, Youngstown Free-Net D D D D D motto: Strive for the simplest and the best. | | | | | : : : : : ------------------------------ End of GUS Programmer's Digest V4 #12 ************************************* To post to tomorrow's digest: To (un)subscribe or get help: To contact a human (last resort): FTP sites: archive.epas.utoronto.ca pub/pc/ultrasound wuarchive.wustl.edu systems/msdos/ultrasound Hints: - Get the FAQ from the FTP sites or the request server. - Mail to for info about other GUS related mailing lists (UNIX, OS/2, GUS-MIDI, etc.)
