Packing List Section 1 - About these drivers =================== Several applications and games use drivers from Miles Design. This archive file contains Miles drivers for the Sound Blaster AWE32. With these drivers you can enjoy high quality digital music from the onboard EMU8000 music chip instead of OPL3 FM music with most games written to use the Miles drivers. If your program uses the Miles drivers then they will have one of two types of files listed in the game's directory. The real mode drivers have an extension of ADV. They have names like MT32MPU.ADV and ADLIB.ADV. The protected mode drivers have an extension of DLL. They have names like A32ADLIB.DLL and A32MT32.DLL. The following shows a typical list of real mode AIL drivers : ADLIB .ADV Adlib ADLIBG .ADV Adlib Gold ARIAXMID.ADV Aria MT32MPU .ADV Roland MULTISND.ADV Turtle Beach PASFM .ADV Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum PCSPKR .ADV PC Speaker SBFM .ADV Sound Blaster SBP1FM .ADV Sound Blaster Pro SPB2FM .ADV Sound Blaster Pro 2 The following shows a typical list of protected mode AIL drivers : A32ADLIB.DLL AdLib A32ALGFM.DLL AdLib Gold A32MT32 .DLL Roland A32SPKR .DLL PC Speaker A32SBFM .DLL Standard Sound Blaster A32SB1FM.DLL Sound Blaster Pro A32SB2FM.DLL Sound Blaster Pro 2 A32PASFM.DLL Pro Audio Spectrum A32PASOP.DLL Pro Audio Specturm Plus/16 Section 2 - Installation of SBAWE32 AIL drivers =================================== Two drivers are provided in this archive : SBAWE32.ADV - Real mode SBAWE32 AIL driver A32AWE32.DLL - Protected mode SBAWE32 AIL driver If your program uses the real mode drivers (.ADV) then rename the current MT32MPU.ADV to MT32MPU.SAV as a backup and copy the Sound Blaster AWE32 driver (SBAWE32.ADV) to MT32MPU.ADV. example: ren mt32mpu.adv mt32mpu.sav copy sbawe32.adv mt32mpu.adv If your program uses the protected mode drivers (.DLL) then rename the current A32MT32.DLL to A32MT32.SAV as a backup and copy the Sound Blaster AWE32 driver (A32AWE32.DLL) to A32MT32.DLL. example: ren a32mt32.dll a32mt32.sav copy a32awe32.dll a32mt32.dll Section 3 - Examples ======== If you have one of the titles listed below then you should use the specified technique to add support instead of the generic method listed above: Return to Zork -------------- 1.
