Microsoft Windows '95 Installation Instruction (For Sound Galaxy Waverider 32+ Family Cards(For FCCID:I38-MMSN826 Only)) Note : If you have previously installed the Sound Card in Windows 3.x environment, and have upgraded to Windows '95, please follow step #1. Otherwise, proceed to step #3 to configure the Sound Card in Windows '95 environment. 1. Restart your computer in MS-DOS mode. Follow the steps described below : If your computer is power-off, - Power-on your system, and press F8 immediately after 'Starting Windows 95 ...' message is shown. - From the selection, choose 'MS-DOS prompt only'. If your computer is already at Windows '95 desktop, - Click the Start button on the taskbar and select Shutdown from the menu. - Click on Restart the Computer in MS-DOS mode. 2. Remove the statements shown below (in bold) from your Windows SYSTEM.INI file. Note that the SYSTEM.INI file can be found in your Windows '95 directory. To ensure Sound Blaster compatibility under Windows '95 DOS mode, check and ensure that the following statements are in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. SET BLASTER = A220 I5 D1 T4 SET SOUND = C:\{path} where, A220 defines the I/O address of the sound card (default is 220H) I5 defines the IRQ Channel of the sound card (default is IRQ 5) D1 defines the DMA Channel of the sound card (default is DMA 1) path defines the path to your Sound Card directory 4. Restart your computer by pressing ++, to start-up Windows '95 in desktop mode. Before you proceed to step#5, please ensure that you have downloaded the files [1]2316FD95.ZIP and [2]WT-102.ZIP from our FTP or Aztech BBS. Unzipped the files and copy the files to a blank diskette labeled 'Sound Galaxy Waverider 32P Windows '95 Driver' and 'Sound Galaxy WaveTide Driver version 1.02'. 5. To configure the Sound Card device in Windows '95, follow the steps described below : - Click the Start button on the taskbar and drag the mouse cursor to highlight Setting then Control Panel from the menu. - At the Control Panel Window, double-click the Add New Hardware icon. - From the Add New Hardware Wizard dialog box, click the Next button. - When prompted whether to you want Windows to search for new hardware, choose No and click the Next button. - When prompted to choose the type of hardware you want to install, move the scroll bar downwards. Highlight "Sound, video and game Controllers" and click the Next button. - When prompted to choose the manufacturer and model of your hardware, click the Have Disk button. - An Install from Disk dialogue box will appear. Insert the disk labeled 'Sound Galaxy Waverider 32P Windows '95 Driver' disk into A: drive, and click the OK button. - When prompted whether to install using default settings, click on the Next button. - When prompted that the installation has been completed. Click on the Finish button to complete and exit installation. At this point, the Sound Card device has been properly configured and Windows will prompt a System Settings Change dialog box to shutdown your computer and re-initialize the hardware. - Choose Yes to restart Windows '95 and initialize the Sound Card device, or - Choose No and proceed to step #6, if you want to configure a Joystick device. 6. To configure the Joystick device in Windows '95, follow the steps described below : - At the Control Panel Window, double-click the Add New Hardware icon. - From the Add New Hardware Wizard dialog box, click the Next button. - When prompted whether to you want Windows to search for new hardware, choose No and click the Next button. - When prompted to choose the type of hardware you want to install, move the scroll bar downwards. Highlight "Sound, video and game Controllers" and click the Next button. - When prompted to choose the manufacturer and model of your hardware, click on Microsoft and choose Gameport Joystick. After this, click on the Next button. - When prompted whether to install using default settings, click on the Next button. - When prompted that the installation has been completed. Click on the Finish button to complete and exit installation. At this point, the Joystick device has been properly configured and Windows will prompt a System Settings Change dialog box to shutdown your computer and re- initialize the hardware. - Choose Yes to restart Windows '95 and initialize the Joystick device, or - Choose No and proceed to step #7, if you want to the Wavetable Synthesizer device. 7. Configure WaveTide Wavetable Synthesizer device in Windows '95 following the steps described below : - Insert the disk labeled 'Sound Galaxy WaveTide Driver version 1.02' into A: drive. - At Windows '95 desktop, click the Start button on the taskbar and drag the mouse cursor to highlight Run from the menu. - From the Run dialog box, specify A:\setup.exe. This will automatically install and configure the WaveTide Wavetable synthesizer in Windows '95. - After completion, choose Yes when it will prompts you to re-start Windows for the driver to take effect. 8. Modify the MIDI configuration of this MPU-401 compatible device following steps described below : - At Windows '95 desktop, click the Start button on the taskbar and drag the mouse cursor to highlight Setting then Control Panel from the menu. - At the Control Panel Window, double-click the Multimedia icon. - From the Multimedia Properties menu, click on the Custom Configuration radio button and then choose Configuration. - From the MIDI Configuration dialog box, highlight Channels 1 to 16 and click on the Change button. - From the Change MIDI Instrument dialog box, choose WaveTide Wavetable Synthesizer by clicking the down-arrow on the MIDI Instrument field. - From the Multimedia Properties menu, click on the Apply button then on the OK button. At this point, the Wavetable Synthesizer device has been properly configured. The steps described above completes the Sound Card Installation or Configuration in Windows '95 environment.
