AMI Technical Documentation on Diskette This file explains some basic concepts about AMI technical documentation on diskettes. AMI technical documentation is produced using WordPerfect 5.1 and Corel Draw 2.0. Before we move the graphics files to WordPerfect, we convert the Corel Draw .CDR files to .PCX files since WordPerfect does not accept .CDR files. If you must change the contents of this diskette, use WordPerfect 5.1 to edit the text and PC Paintbrush to edit the graphic files on this diskette. AMI technical documents are provided in one large WordPerfect file and many smaller graphics files. Graphics are embedded in the WordPerfect document but are not editable in WordPerfect. All AMI manuals are formatted for output on HP LaserJet III printers using the scalable fonts in the printer. If you use a different type of printer, you will get different fonts and type sizes. Newer AMI manuals will be formatted for Postscript output. The graphics that are used in AMI manuals are also on the diskette as separate .PCX files so you can edit them. Use Zsoft's PC Paintbrush to edit the graphics files. You can use many different word processing programs to edit the AMI technical documentation files. Many programs have conversion utilities or importing routines that will make WordPerfect files accessible. No word processing software that we know of will allow you to edit the graphics files. You must use a suitable graphics program to edit graphics (as far as we know, only PC Paintbrush will work on .PCX files). Some word processors will not even import graphics files.
