Changes and enhancements in 5/15/95 Courier BETA firmware

    ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS REGARDING USE OF THIS ROM CODE.

1.  Added V.34+ modulation.   This is an extension of V.34 which adds
    signalling rates of 31200 BPS and 33600 BPS, and also provides
    improved performance at the standard V.34 speeds.   Negotiation
    of this modulation is fully automatic and requires no configuration
    changes in modem setup.   V.34+ may be disabled by setting bit 5 of
    S-register 56.   The &N command has been extended to support the
    two new speeds, adding &N15 and &N16.

2.  Improved V.FC line performance.

6.  Improved Call Selection (Adaptive Answer) operation.   

7.  Added the optional "Selective Reject" feature to LAPM operation.
    This feature enhances throughput by reducing the number of data blocks
    that are re-sent when an error (BLER) occurs.   Selective Reject may
    be disabled by setting bit 6 of S-register 51.

8.  Increased data block size in LAPM mode.  The increased block size
    results in lower protocol overhead, and increased throughput.

9.  The ATI6 diagnostic screen has an extended "Protocol" field which
    displays the actual block and window sizes, and indicates when Selective
    Reject has been negotiated.

10. ARQ LED operation has been modified so that the LED blinks whenever
    BLERS are encountered.   Previous code only blinked the light when
    data was being re-transmitted due to BLERS at the remote side.  Now
    that both conditions are being reported, you may notice an increase
    in the activity of that light.

11. MR LED operation has been modified so that the light extinguishes
    when either modem requests a retrain.   Previous code only extinguished
    the light when the local modem made the request.

12. The &S5 option documented in the User's Guide and Quick Reference Card
    is now functional.

13. Dial Security with Autopass operation has been corrected.   

14. Dial Security with Password Prompting has been corrected.    

15. Minor cosmetic changes in diagnostics screens.
