 Boot Block Recovery Procedure for Micronics 486 JX-30 and JX30G Motherboards

The JX-30 motherboard is identified by the number 09-00183 printed on
   the back edge of the board.
The JX-30G motherboard is identified by the number 09-00189.
The JX-30G (G means "green" for power-saving features) may have PS/2 keyboard
  and mouse ports, in which case it uses a different BIOS to support the mouse.

        Original BIOS version:       Micro Firmware Upgrade BIOS (Phoenix):
JX30 -   Phoenix 0.10 JX30 or GJX30   4.03.6.xx M4GS45   or 4.05.xx M4HS45
JX30G -  Phoenix 0.10 GJX30G-xx       4.03.6.xx M4GS45G  or 4.05.xx M4HS45G
JX30GP - Phoenix 0.10 GJX30G-xxP      4.03.6.xx M4GS45GP or 4.05.xx M4HS45GP

The boot block procedure is normally used only if there is no BIOS code
  or incorrect BIOS code in the flash chip - normally resulting in a black
  screen on powerup.
The procedure requires a valid recovery disk, normally created during
  installation of a flash BIOS upgrade. We can provide a recovery disk,
  if needed, at no charge. (Download JX30.EXE, JX30G.EXE, or JX30GP.EXE
  from our BBS.)

 1.  Turn system off
 2.  Move jumper W-8 from pins 2-3 to pins 1-2
       may also be labelled on motherboard: NM (normal mode), and RC (recovery)
 3.  Insert recovery disk
 4.  Turn system on  -  Screen should display:
         Flash memory boot block version x x.x
         Insert disk and press [P] for 1.2M or press [Q] for 1.44
 5.  Press Q or P - Screen should display:
         Reading floppy disk
     Should take about 30-60 seconds - then screen should display:
         Flash memory update is done
 6.  Turn system off, remove diskette
 7.  Move jumper W-8 from pins 1-2 back to pins 2-3
 8.  Turn system on, set values in CMOS SETUP

If no response to pressing Q or P, hold down Q or P on powerup so that the
  character is in the keyboard buffer before the boot block recovery
  program starts.
If the screen says "Reading floppy disk" but doesn't complete in a
  minute or so - you may need to temporarily install an external floppy
  drive controller and use it instead of the onboard controller - or
  just repeat procedure. Also try clearing CMOS RAM (short pins 12 and 24
  on Dallas 1287A clock chip or Motorolla 6818 or compatible clock chip.
It may also be helpful to remove a tape drive from the floppy cable.
If there is only a blank screen after starting system in recovery mode -
  there may be no boot block recovery code in the flash chip.
The boot block recovery program may not work (blank screen) on the JX30
  series motherboards at 33MHz - set DIP switches to 25MHz.
Also the boot block code will not come up if no keyboard is plugged in.
