************************* *BIOS UPDATE PROCEDURES * ************************* This document explains the procedures to update system BIOS using AMIFLASH utility. AMIFLASH utility allows you to update your system BIOS without changing the BIOS chip. However, if you accidently write incorrect BIOS code, the system may not be bootable anymore. Should this happen, the only remedy is to replace the BIOS chip. Please read this document carefully before start updating your BIOS. 1. AMIFLASH utility will not work with any memory manager software running in the system. Because of that, make sure to boot from MS-DOS system diskette which contains neither CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files. However,if you are using MS-DOS 6.X or later, press Function Key as soon as "Starting MS-DOS.." appears on the screen to bypass CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT. 2. Change to the directory which contains both AMIFLASH.EXE and the NEW_BIOS code. NOTE: the new BIOS code is a file with an extension .ROM. For example: NEW_BIOS.ROM. 3. Type AMIFLASH NEW_BIOS.ROM, then press ENTER. 4. The screen will shows flashing messages: " Press "Y" to continue, "N" to Reboot ". 5. By typing "Y" will start writing the new BIOS code into the flash BIOS. If you are not sure, type "N" will reboot the system and bring to MS-DOS prompt back. 6. After the new BIOS has been writen to the flash BIOS , screen will show "Press any key to reboot"(Flashing). Press any key ! 7. During the boot sequence press "DEL" Key to enter and reconfigure the BIOS setup. And load "Auto Configuration with Optimal setting" to optimize the system setting. end.
