The files 09AX1.EXE and 12AX1T.EXE are self-extracting diskette images
of BIOS recovery disks for the Intel Plato motherboard.

These image files create recovery disks only on 1.44MB diskettes.

To create the recovery disk, type in the filename (09AX1 or 12AX1T),
the program will detect which drive, if any, is a 1.44MB, and will ask
for a blank, high-density diskette to be inserted into that drive.
It doesn't matter if this disk is blank or whether or not it has
been formatted - it will be completely overwritten.

The 12AX1T file creates a recovery disk for the 1.00.12.AX1T BIOS.
This is the current Gateway 2000 OEM version of the original Intel/AMI
BIOS and is available on GW2K's web site. This would be the
recommended file to use for a Gateway 2000 Plato system.

The 09AX1 file creates a recovery disk for the 1.00.09.AX1 BIOS.
This is an older BIOS and was also used by GW2K.

After installing 1.00.09.AX1, it is then possible to upgrade to any
other Plato BIOS with the AX1 suffix, several of which are available
on Intel's FTP site. These BIOSes would not be supported by Gateway
2000. The only way to upgrade from an AX1 BIOS to an AX1T BIOS is to
install the 1.00.09.AX1T BIOS which is available from GW2K'2 web site.
After installing 1.00.09.AX1T, the BIOS can then be upgraded to any
AX1T BIOS but not to any AX1 BIOS. The T in the AX1T suffix indicates
Gateway 2000 OEM version.

The resulting BIOS recovery disk will contain a copy of the original
BIOS, ****************, for this motherboard.

Please refer to the included file, PLATOREC.TXT, for instructions on
using this recovery disk.

NOTE - We provide this BIOS recovery disk as a public service to
anyone who needs it. Please contact your system vendor for any
technical support on your system, including this BIOS. Our techincal
support department exists to support our own BIOS upgrades.
