Problem
You want to install a new printer for WordPerfect 6.0 for
Windows.


Concept
You can install either Windows or WordPerfect for Windows print
drivers from inside WordPerfect 6.0 for Windows.


Solutions
You have several options for installing printers.

Installing Windows Printer Drivers

1    Choose Select Printer from the File menu.

2    Click Add, then click Windows.

This is the same screen that appears when you choose Printers
then Add Printer from the Control Panel.

3    Highlight the correct printer and choose Install.

4    Insert the appropriate disk as prompted, or designate which
     drive contains the printer files.

Windows printer drivers are in compressed format, so you must use
the disks or copy the entire disk to your hard drive.

Adding an Already-Installed WordPerfect for Windows Printer
Driver
You may have a printer driver in an .ALL file, but it will need
to be transferred to a .PRS file before it can be used.

1    Choose Select Printer from the File menu.

2    Click Add, then click WordPerfect.

3    Highlight the correct printer or change the directory to a
     directory that has the desired .PRS or .ALL file.

This may look familiar, because it is very similar to the screen
that appears when you choose Select Printer then Add in
WordPerfect 5.1 or 5.2 for Windows.

Installing a WordPerfect for Windows Printer Driver

1    Within Windows, click the Install icon.

2    Click Options, then click Printers.

3    Specify a printer directory, if yours is different from the
     default listed.

4    Insert the Install 1 disk in the drive specified under
     Install From.  Then click OK.

5    Locate your printer in the list that appears.  When you have
     found on it, double-click on it or click once and choose
     Select.

6    Click OK.

You may be prompted for another disk.  If so, insert it as
prompted and follow the directions on your screen.

Choosing the Default Printer
The default printer is the printer that most Windows applications
automatically use when you choose the Print command.  You can
only have one default printer for WordPerfect 6.0 for Windows. 
There are two ways to select a default printer.

1    Choose Select Printer from the File menu.

2    Highlight the desired Windows printer and click on Select.

OR

1    Double-click the Printers icon in the Control Panel window.

2    In the Installed Printers box, double-click the printer you
     want to use as the default printer, or select the printer
     and press Alt+D.

The printer's name should appear in the Default Printer box.

3    If necessary, choose Configure and then Setup to set print
     options for the default printer.

4    Choose OK when you are ready to go to the Control Panel.
