Kodak Diconix Printer Drivers for Popular DOS Applications ---------------------------------------------------------- This disk contains printer drivers for the Kodak Diconix 150 Plus, 180si, 701, 150, 330C, and 300/300W printers for several popular software programs. With the exception of Microsoft Windows, all drivers on this disk have been provided to Eastman Kodak Company by the software vendor, and are distributed by Kodak with their permission. This disk is organized by sub-directories according to application as follows: Application Directory ----------- --------- WordPerfect 5.0 \WP50 WordPerfect 5.1 \WP51 Microsoft Windows 3.0+ \WINDOWS Microsoft Windows 2.0+ \WINDOWS\WIN2 Microsoft Word 4.0 \WORD4 Microsoft Word 5.0 \WORD5 Microsoft Works 1.x \WORKS1 Microsoft Works 2.0 \WORKS2 Microsoft MultiPlan 4.x \MP4 General Notes ------------- (Application-specific information can be found in README.TXT files in the appropriate subdirectories on this diskette.) All Microsoft Applications -------------------------- Each Microsoft application has two drivers for the Diconix 150 Printer: DICONIXE.PRD for Epson mode (DIP switch #6 down), and DICONIXI.PRD for IBM mode (DIP switch #6 up). Epson mode supports italic characters; IBM mode provides extended character support, including line draw characters. Select the driver that best meets your needs, and set DIP switch #6 accordingly. Use the DOS COPY command to copy the selected driver from the corresponding sub- directory of this diskette to your application disk or hard drive. The Diconix 150 Printer cannot use a 10 pitch (12 point) font with Microsoft applications. Instead, it uses a 12 pitch (10 point) Elite font to emulate the 10 pitch font. It has a maximum print width of 7.08 inches, which creates fixed margins of almost .75 inches on the left and right. The paper width must be listed as 8.5 inches with the various applications, but the margin settings can usually be kept small. The MultiPlan 4.x, Works 1.x, and Word 4.0 Epson mode drivers (DICONIXE.PRD) are all designed to print 6 lines per inch. All the print engines assume the printer prints at 6 lines per inch as a default. Although the Diconix 150 can print at 6 lines per inch, when printing any type of graphics, Word uses codes that cause the printer to print 8 lines per inch. Details of the problems will be listed in the README.TXT files located in the appropriate subdirectories on this diskette. All of the drivers use a 12 pitch font but call it a 10 pitch font (12 point). This causes any horizontal measurements to be reduced by that ratio, 5/6. As an example, setting a tab stop at 3" in the application will actually create a column at 2.5" from the left margin on the paper but it will still be 30 characters (at 12 point) from the left margin.
