Note: To print this file from Windows Notepad or Write you must copy it to your hard disk, and then open the copy on your hard disk. Quick Installation from Windows -- This is the recommended procedure. 1. Insert the driver disk into the A (or other) drive of your computer. 2. In the Program Manager, select File and then Run... 3. On the Command Line, type a:\install and click on OK. 4. Select the desired configuration in the Installation dialog box and click on OK. Quick Installation from DOS (Windows not running) 1. Insert the driver disk into the A (or other) drive of your computer. 2. Type: win a:\install. 3. Select the desired configuration in the Installation dialog box and click on OK. Standard Windows Installation -- Recommended for Asian Windows and network installations. 1. Insert the driver disk into the A (or other) drive of your computer. 2. Open the Program Manager in MS Windows. 3. In the Program Manager, select Main. 4. In Main, select Control Panel. 5. n Control Panel, select Printers. Windows 3.1 Installation: 6. In the Printers dialog box, click on Add >>. 7. In the List of Printers list box, double click on the Unlisted Printer entry (the first entry in the list.) 8. In the Install Driver dialog box, type A: (or other drive) and click OK. 9. In the Add Unlisted Printer dialog box, select the appropriate printer name and click OK. 10. Select a calibration method and then follow the on- screen instructions to calibrate your monitor. 11. After the color maps have been built, check the Use Print Manager check box and then click on the Connect button. 12. In the Connect dialog box, double click on the desired port, check the Fast Printing Direct to Port check box, change the Transmission Retry value to 900 and then click OK. 13. After the color maps have been built, highlight the desired printer from the Printers Dialog box, and click on Active. Click on the Set Default Printer button to make it the Default printer. 14. Click OK to close the Control Panel. Windows 3.0 Installation: 6. In the Printers dialog box, click on Add Printer >>. 7. In the List of Printers list box, double click on the Unlisted Printer entry (the last entry in the list.) 8. In the Add unlisted printer dialog box, double click on the A: (or other) drive in the Directories list box. 9. Double click on the driver name, "hppcl5c.drv" in the Driver Files list box. 10. Click on Use Print Manager. 11. In the Printers dialog box, click on Configure. 12. In the Printers - Configure dialog box, change the Transmission Retry timeout to 900, then click on the desired port. 13. Click on the Setup button. 14. In the Select Printer dialog box, select the desired printer and click OK. 15. Select a calibration method and then follow the on- screen instructions to calibrate your monitor. 16. Click OK in the printer's Setup Dialog box. 17. Highlight the desired printer from the Installed Printers box and click on Active. Double click on the printer name to make it the Default printer. 18. Click OK to close the Control Panel. SCREEN FONTS FOR WINDOWS If you use Microsoft Windows 3.0 or 3.1, screen fonts are available that match those in you printer. You will be able to see on your computer screen exactly what your printed fonts will look like. To get your free copy of screen fonts for Windows, call 1-303-353-7650. ALDUS PERSUASION BITMAP PRINTING Printing bitmaps (.tif, .pcx, ...) from Aldus Persuasion produces incorrect output.
