STEP 2 -- DECOMPRESS THE FILE The file distributed by LJ DRIVERS has been compressed to reduce transmission time and conserve disk space. This file must be decompressed prior to installation. The steps below document this process. The following steps assume your hard disk drive is C: and that your high density floppy disk drive is A:. If this is not correct, replace these specifications with the correct drive letters where appropriate. a. Copy the demo file to a formatted, high density (1.2Mb) floppy disk. This helps to ensure that files associated with other drivers or utilities are kept separate. It also makes duplication and distribution of individual drivers much easier. type COPY C:\HPGLUT.EXE A:\ b. Logon to the drive which contains the floppy disk. For example, if the floppy disk is in drive A, type A: and press [Enter]. c. To decompress the file, type HPGLUT and press [Enter]. Your screen will display the following: Archive: A:\HPGLUT.EXE UnCrunching > CASTLE.PLT UnCrunching > INPLOT.EXE UnCrunching > README.INP UnCrunching > TEST.BAT If the message "Bad command or file name" is displayed after you press [Enter], check to see that the filename includes the EXE extension. If it does not, rename the file by typing RENAME filename HPGLUT.EXE (where filename is the current filename) d. You can delete the HPGLUT.EXE file from the floppy disk. However, you should retain a copy of the file somewhere. This eliminates the need to transfer the file from HP Desk to your PC again. This completes the process of transferring the HPGLUT file to a PC and decompressing it. Since the MPE system copy of this file is no longer needed, we suggest you logon to the system and purge the file by typing PURGE HPGLUT at the colon (:) prompt. STEP 3 -- PRINT A COPY OF THE README FILE This demo includes a readme file. This file provides additional information, including installation instructions. To print the readme file, a. Check to see that your printer is turned on and that the ON LINE indicator is lit. b. Type COPY A:\README.INP LPT1: and press [Enter]. c. Make sure that ALL pages are printed. If the printer's FORM FEED light remains on after the "last" page has printed, take the printer off-line and press the FORM FEED key to print the final page. STEP 4 -- INSTALL THE DEMO Following the instructions provided in the README.INP file, install the InPlot Demo. Remember that this demo is a US version. It may not work properly with localized applications. FINAL STEP -- DISTRIBUTE, DISTRIBUTE, DISTRIBUTE If you know someone who would benefit from having this demo, please distribute a copy to them.
