MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: -------------------- 1) 80386 or 80486-Based System 2) 4 MB System RAM 3) 30 MB Hard Disk 4) OS/2 Installation Package (Version 1.3 or later) 5) NetWare for OS/2 (Version 1.3 or later) a) OS/2 Requester Software b) OS/2 Requester Utilities 6) Driver Software for OS/2 a) smc8100.sys b) net.cfg INSTALLATION PROCEDURE: ---------------------- 1) Copy TRINIT.SYS from the SuperDisk's root directory to the directory on the hard disk where the Requester software is located. 2) Insert the Novell NetWare OS/2 Requester diskette into your diskette drive. 3) Type: INSTALL and press Enter. 4) From the installation option, select "Requester on Workstation." 5) Specify the target directory, the source directory, and select OK. 6) Select "Edit CONFIG.SYS and COPY Files..." 7) Select "SMC8100.SYS" from the Network Interface Card Driver List. If "SMC8100.SYS" is not an available option, select "TOKEN.SYS." 8) Select or deselect any remaining options you require. Then select "Save." 9) Type: CONFIG.SYS in the "Save File As:" field, then select OK. 10) Select "Copy" in the Copy Requester Files Window. 11) Follow the prompts until the installation is completed. 12) If you have not already done so, select "Utilities on Server:" from the Installation Menu and follow the prompts until this installation is completed. 13) If you selected "TOKEN.SYS" in Step 7, do the following: a. Copy SMC8100.SYS from the OS2_ODI directory on your SuperDisk to the target directory you selected in Step 5. b. Edit the CONFIG.SYS file. Change device=token.sys to read device=smc8100.sys 14) Edit the CONFIG.SYS file and insert the line device=trinit.sys just above this line: device=SMC8100.SYS USING NET.CFG FOR MULTIPLE ADAPTERS ----------------------------------- 1) Locate the NET.CFG file on your hard disk. If a NET.CFG file does not already exist, copy the sample NET.CFG file from the SuperDisk diskette to the appropriate directory. 2) Using a text editor, add the "Link Driver" entry to NET.CFG for each adapter. Separate each entry with a blank line. For example: Link Driver SMC8100 Link Driver SMC8100 The first adapter loaded will be the one with the lowest I/O base address or, if the machine is Micro Channel, the lowest slot number. ERROR MESSAGES -------------- "Adapter hardware failure detected (initialization)." "Adapter unable to insert into network." "Adapter IRQ higher than 7 not valid in 8-bit slot." "No adapters found." "One or more NET.CFG parameters are missing or invalid." "I/O address in NET.CFG is on illegal boundary." "I/O address in NET.CFG is out of range." "Adapter IRQ higher than 7 not valid in 8 bit slot." "IRQ specified in NET.CFG is out of range." "RAM address in NET.CFG is on illegal boundary." "RAM address in NET.CFG is out of range."
