Choose the appropriate SMC TokenCard Elite adapter from the menu. 4. When INSTALL prompts you, enter the correct values for the network card settings, if necessary. LANstep automatically updates your PROTOCOL.INI, CONFIG.SYS, and LANSTEP.INI files Workstation Configuration For a workstation, follow these steps: 1. Use any text editor to include the following lines in your CONFIG.SYS file: DEVICE=C:\LANSTEP\PROTMAN.SYS /I:C:\LANSTEP /E:C:\LANSTEP\PROTMAN.EXE DEVICE=C:\LANSTEP\SMC8100.DOS 2. Modify the PROTOCOL.INI file in the \LANSTEP subdirectory on your PC's hard disk so it resembles the following: [PROTOCOL MANAGER] DRIVERNAME = PROTMAN$ [LANSTEP] DRIVERNAME = LANSTEP$ INTERRUPT = 3 BINDINGS = SMC8100 [SMC8100] DRIVERNAME = SMC8100$ IOBASE = 0x280 LANstep requires an INTERRUPT = entry in the [LANSTEP] section of the PROTOCOL.INI file that matches the Token-Ring adapter's IRQ setting. If you change the interrupt on the adapter, remember to change the [LANSTEP] section of the PROTOCOL.INI file. (This is a requirement on workstations only, not on servers.)
