This installation guide describes how to: o How to use EZStart to copy the Banyan Vines driver files from the SuperDisk to your PC. o Prepare your PC's operating system so you can attach to the network. Note: This driver supports all SMC TokenCard EliteSeries ISA and Micro Channel Token-Ring adapters. COPYING THE DRIVER FILES From the Driver Installation screen, select 'Copy Files' to copy all the files used by this driver from the SuperDisk to the Destination Directory recommended by EZStart, or to a different directory that you specify. PREPARING YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM 1. Using any text editor, add the following lines to your CONFIG.SYS file: DEVICE=\PROTMAN.DOS/i:c:\ DEVICE=\SMC8100.DOS 2. Make sure the SMC NDIS driver file (SMC8100.DOS) and the PROTOCOL.INI file both reside in the . 3. Run PCCOPY (a VINES utility) to copy the PC's Configuration Software and LAN Driver from the VINES server to your . 4. Run PCCONFIG (another VINES utility) to configure the PC for the network: o Select "Network Card Settings". Then press the Enter key. o Select "Token-Ring NDIS". Then press Enter. o Enter the interrupt that the adapter is using. Press Enter. o On the "PROTOCOL.INI bindings =" line, type the entry name that matches the "Bindings=" statement in your PROTOCOL.INI file. o Press Enter. o Press F10 to save your configuration. o Press Esc to exit from the current screen. 5. Reboot your computer.
