***************************************************************** This section of the README file applies to the NDET06 RPL modules used on NDC NE2000 adapters (Instant-Link and ND41XX) for NetWare server. ***************************************************************** National Datacomm Corporation Novell NetWare Remote Program Load (RPL) Software For NDC NE2000 Ethernet Adapter With NDTR06 INSTALLATION GUIDE This installation guide describes how to install the Novell NetWare Remote Program Load (RPL) software on the NetWare 3.11 or 3.12/4.XX server with NDC NE2000 Ethernet Adapter (ND41XX/ND50XX). INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR NetWare 3.11 SERVER To install the Novell NetWare RPL software on the NetWare 3.11 server with ND41XX/ND50XX and workstation with ND41XX/ND50XX & NDET06: 1. Start NetWare server with ND41XX/ND50XX and install NE2000 ODI driver with ETHERNET_802.2 frame. :LOAD NE2000 FRAME=ETHERNET_802.2 :BIND IPX TO NE2000 2. Login as supervisor to the NetWare 3.11 server. Copy the "RBOOT.RPL" file to the F:\LOGIN directory and the "RPL.NLM" file to the F:\SYSTEM directory. Note: * "RBOOT.RPL" and "RPL.NLM" for NetWare 3.11 can be found in the \RPL directory of NDC Ethernet "Setup Program" diskettes. 3. Install RPL support on server. :LOAD RPL :BIND RPL TO NE2000 4. Follow Novell's instructions to build the RPL image file (NET$DOS.SYS) for NE2000 clones in the \LOGIN subdirectory on the file server. Following is a simple example to build the RPL image file for NE2000 clones with IRQ=3/IO=300. (a) Format a DOS bootable diskette. (FORMAT A:/S) (b) Copy ODI drivers (LSL, NE2000, IPXODI, NETX, NET.CFG..) and AUTOEXEC.BAT to the diskette. AUTOEXEC.BAT: LSL NE2000 IPXODI NETX F:LOGIN NET.CFG Link Driver NE2000 Frame ETHERNET_802.2 INT 3 PORT 300 (c) Put the diskette into A: drive of the PC with ND41XX/ND50XX, boot up from A: drive and login as "SUPERVISOR". (d) Change directory to "\LOGIN". (CD \LOGIN) (e) Run DOSGEN to create RPL image file "NET$DOS.SYS". (\SYSTEM\DOSGEN) Please delete the "NOT-LOGGED-IN" users in server "MONITOR" if "NET$DOS.SYS" cannot be built. 5. Enable RPL for PC with ND41XX/ND50XX & NDET06. (a) Run NDC Ethernet "Setup Program" (SETUP/SOFTSET/NDCONF) to select an free memory for the RPL PROM to enable the RPL function. (b) Power off the PC and then power on to boot up the PC from NetWare server. Please refer to p.349-p.352 of "Novell NetWare Version 3.11 Installation" for more detailed information. You may also refer to p.353-p.360 for creating multiple remote boot image files. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR NetWare 3.12/4.XX SERVER To install the Novell NetWare RPL software on the NetWare 3.12/4.XX server with ND41XX/ND50XX and workstation with ND41XX/ND50XX & NDET06: 1. Start NetWare server with ND41XX/ND50XX and install NE2000 ODI driver with ETHERNET_802.2 frame. :LOAD NE2000 FRAME=ETHERNET_802.2 :BIND IPX TO NE2000 2. Install RPL support on server. :LOAD RPL :BIND RPL TO NE2000 3. Follow Novell's instructions to build the RPL image file (NET$DOS.SYS) for NE2000 clones in the \LOGIN subdirectory on the file server. Please delete the "NOT-LOGGED-IN" users in server "MONITOR" if "NET$DOS.SYS" cannot be built. 4. ***************************************************************** This section of the README file applies to the NDET07 RPL modules used on NDC NE2000 adapters (Instant-Link and ND41XX) for NetWare server. ***************************************************************** National Datacomm Corporation Novell NetWare Remote Program Load (RPL) Software For NDC NE2000 Ethernet Adapter With NDTR07 INSTALLATION GUIDE This installation guide describes how to install the Novell NetWare Remote Program Load (RPL) software on the NetWare 3.1X/4.XX server with NDC NE2000 Ethernet Adapter (ND41XX/ND50XX).
