1 INFORMATION ABOUT THE BOOTROM 1.1 General This is the general purpose bootrom. This bootrom allows remote boot from a Novell Netware server supporting RPL, Microsoft LAN Manager Server, Microsoft Windows NT Server and IBM LAN Server. This file can be burned into a PROM and the PROM can be used to remote boot from one of the servers listed above. All the Boot PROM files here are in the Absolute Binary Format. The bootrom code will give the user an option to select from the several servers during the boot process or to boot from the first server found on the network. If no selection made, in 5 seconds boot process is started (for the systems without monitor and/or keyboard). Bootrom code is based on Novell LanKit 3.02 RPL code. In addition to multi-server support, the code is modified to include PCI optional RPL header. Plug'n Play cards are supported as a legacy RPL devices 1.2 Original Boot PROM Code The original Boot PROM code, with the PCI optional RPL header included, is stored with the file name NETROM.ORG. NOTE! EtherTeam PCI does not yet contain Flash PROM support. 1.3 Boot PROM For EtherTeam ISA The PCI optional RPL header may cause problems with some PCI BIOS implementations. Because of that, there is another Boot PROM file NETROM.ISA to be used for EtherTeam ISA cards. This file does not contain the PCI optional RPL header. 1.4 Files This directory has the following contents: - README.TXT This readme file. - NETROM.ORG The Boot PROM code including PCI Header. - NETROM.ISA The Boot PROM code without PCI Header. - NETROM.BIN Is equivalent to NETROM.ISA file.
