README FOR LDR001.PTF v1.00 The following files are included in this revision: LDR001 DOC 3200 7-06-92 11:00a LDR001 PTF 52920 11-06-91 4:55p XLOAD DOC 3472 7-06-92 11:00a XLOAD EXE 13872 8-06-91 4:47p This loader is intended for NetWare 386 v3.11 (all number-of-user versions) and requires the utility XLOAD.EXE in order to be applied. This LDR001.PTF contains the following revisions: 1) This LDR001.PTF fixes an existing problem with PS/2 machines with type 2 keyboards. If the server is loaded at these machines and any key is pressed, strange characters may appear at the console prompt. 2) When performing a core memory dump on some machines, the OS will continue to prompt "Insert a formatted disk" even after one has been inserted. 3) Some 486 machines with the math co-processor will hang after the server has been downed. 4) LDR001.PTF fixes a problem encountered when using the network server mode password on IBM PS/2 machines. Previously when setting the network server mode password on and loading NetWare 386 v3.11, the server would appear to lock up during the loading of the OS. This new loader solves this problem. Note: After activating the keyboard by entering the password, the key may not be properly synchronized. Tapping the key three times will ensure that functionality is correct. 5) On some PS/2s, the server hangs when loading. This was because bit 20 was not enabled. This new loader uses port 92 to enable bit 20. 6) This version of the loader modifies the DoEndOfInterrupt, so that it translates int 2 to int 9. The problem was that an end of interrupt was not being issued to the controller as it should. 7) LDR001.PTF is referred to by Intel documentation for their SnapIn 386 module as the "NetWare 386 Bit20 Patch". These fixes will be incorporated is future version of LDRxxx.PTF for NetWare 386 3.11. Installation: See the documentation included with XLOAD.EXE for installation of this new loader. ******************************************************* DISCLAIMER Novell, Inc. makes no representations or warranties with respect to any NetWare software, and specifically disclaims any express or implied warranties of merchantability, title, or fitness for a particular purpose.
