This README of SBACK.ZIP is for NetWare v3.1x. The following files are included in this revision: WANGTEK NLM 15681 7-18-91 3:37p DIBIDAI NLM 17000 3-26-92 4:04p NOVADIBI NLM 17119 3-31-92 12:08p SIDR NLM 17127 4-03-92 3:40p TSA-310 NLM 105836 4-03-92 9:20a TSA-311 NLM 106267 4-03-92 9:13a TSA NLM 27047 4-03-92 2:59p SBACKUP NLM 183043 3-05-92 2:00p TAPEDAI DSK 31659 2-26-92 1:03p SME-SHIM NLM 1148 3-04-92 8:09a SBACKUP PCL 38199 1-15-92 11:46a SBACKUP NFO 178176 3-12-92 3:38p (DOCUMENTATION) SBACKUP v3.11b Maintenance Update These are some of SBACKUP'S fixes and enhancements. Documentation This update contains revised user documentation (Folio format). To view this documentation simply copy the SBACKUP.NFO file to the directory where NFOLIO.EXE is located ( usually SYS:PUBLIC ). Execute Nfolio.exe and select SBACKUP from the main menu. 3.10 NetWare support A TSA for 3.10 netware is now available. Load TSA-310.NLM and SME-SHIM.NLM on the 310 server you are backing up. File location The subdirectory structure under the SYS:SYSTEM directory is not required to load NLMs. All NLMs may reside in the SYS:SYSTEM directory. The directories SYS:SYSTEM\TSA (for temporary file use) and SYS:SYSTEM\DIBI (for DIBI2$DV.DAT file) must exist. If the SIDR, DIBI and TSA directories are used, search paths must be added to these directories using the SEARCH ADD [path] command. Restore New restore option: Include File Server Level - see new user document. Bindery is NOT restored unless specifically included using the "Include File Server Level" options. Maintenance Improvements ¯ It runs faster. ¯ Errors no longer appear when trying to restore a directory that does not exist. ¯ Corrected NameSpace data error on FTAM and NFS. ¯ Improved file open modes. ¯ Changed SMS to work on a server after the SECURE CONSOLE command. ¯ Corrected ABEND using SYS:\ as the working directory. To install this new SBACKUP and supported files: 1. Flag all SBACKUP files SRW in SYS:SYSTEM. 2. Rename the SBACKUP files to *.old. 3. Copy all files to the SYS:SYSTEM directory. (In this new version of SBACKUP, all NLMs can be loaded from the system directory). 4. Flag the files back to ROS. Explanation of TAPEDAI and DIBIDAI files TAPEDAI.DSK TAPEDAI.DSK is a NetWare 386 device driver written to control certain tape devices. It is used with DIBIDAI.NLM. DIBIDAI.NLM presents a DIBI interface to SBACKUP.NLM, but translates the DIBI requests into NetWare DAI calls. This eventually results in device driver calls getting passed to TAPEDAI.DSK through the same IO request mechanism used by NetWare to obtain disk service. TAPEDAI.DSK must be loaded prior to loading SBACKUP. If it is used often, the user may want to load it from within the STARTUP.NCF file. Dependencies: TAPEDAI.DSK targets ADAPTEC 1540 (ISA), 1640 (MicroChannel) and 1740 (EISA) SCSI host adapter boards. TAPEDAI.DSK relies on the the ASPI interface provided by ADAPTEC Inc. Consequently, AHA1?40.DSK and ASPITRAN.DSK must be loaded prior to loading TAPEDAI.DSK. ASPITRAN.DSK and the AHA1?40.DSK drivers must be obtained from ADAPTEC Inc. or its authorized sales channels. Target Devices: TAPEDAI only works with the following devices: Manufacturer Product Type ARCHIVE Python DAT EXABYTE EXB-8500 8mm HP HP35450A DAT *HP HP35470A DAT *HP HP35480A DAT WANGTEK WANGTEK_6130_HS DAT *(The HP35470A and HP35480A must be set through its dip switches so that the SCSI Valid Bit is set upon crossing Early Warning. If this is not done, sessions that span tapes won't be reliable. Users should perform a test backup and restore across tapes to confirm that the switches are set properly. The file that actually spans tapes is the one to test.) ***************************************************************** DISCLAIMER Novell, Inc. makes no representations or warranties with respect to any NetWare software, and specifically disclaims any express or implied warranties of merchantability, title, or fitness for a particular purpose.
