WARNING: Before you begin this installation, back up your system to avoid losing any important data. If you are installing on a v2.2 network, use the Advanced installation. Do not use Basic Install. To install the new ESDI/SCSI combination driver set in your PS/2 Model, complete the following steps: 1. Follow the instructions for installing drives and disk controllers in your IBM documentation. Don't autoconfigure the system. Continue with Step 2. 2. Run REFERENCE. 3. From the main menu, choose Option #2 ("Set Configuration") 4. From the "Set Configuration" menu, choose Option #1 ("View Configuration") and record the following information: o I/O addresses o DMA 5. From the "Set Configuration" menu, choose Option #6 ("Set and View SCSI device configuration"). Check to be sure the SCSI configuration matches your recorded configuration information. 6. When configuration is completed, choose Option #7 ("Display Memory Map"). Record the hexadecimal addresses for each driver as shown on the screen. Note: If your system includes more than 2 hard drives and you are running DOS 4.0, you must install the DOS v4.0 Corrective Services Diskette (CSD #UR29015). This diskette is available from IBM. The system must be booted with DOS 4.0 or higher. 7. Follow the instructions on the screen to exit REFERENCE. The following installation instructions are divided into two categories: o v2.15 o v2.2 Scroll through to find the section that applies to your specific system. You are now ready to begin the installation process. These procedures vary between v2.15 and v2.2 systems. There are no defaults available for this installation. You must load the ESDI and the SCSI shared int 14 drivers. The operating system will be unable to link if both drivers are not loaded. Note: All driver configuration options must correspond to actual hardware settings. Software adjusts must be accompanied by hardware adjustments and vice versa if either are necessary. NetWare v2.15 Installation (Custom) Refer to the NetWare v2.15 Maintenance manual for installation instructions. Before running NETGEN complete the following steps: 1. NETWORK DRIVE: Create a directory called DSK_DRV_.031. FLOPPY DRIVE: Format a diskette with the label DSK_DRV_031. Use the DOS FORMAT /V command. 2. NETWORK DRIVE: Copy the .DSK in the AUXGEN directory and the .OBJ files into the directory you created in Step 1. FLOPPY DRIVE: Copy the .OBJ files and the .DSK files to the newly formatted diskette you created in Step 1. 3. Run NETGEN. 4. NETWORK DRIVE: Choose "Select Loaded Item" from the menu and continue with Step 5. FLOPPY DRIVE: Complete the disk driver installation instructions contained in the Maintenance manual. Then continue with Step 5 below. Note: As you install new disk drivers, you may see a message similar to the following: "Driver 1 has the same type number as Driver 2. Replace Driver 1 with Driver 2?" The drivers do not always appear in the same order, indicating that Driver 1 is not necessarily the new driver. Be sure you select the ESDI shared int 14 driver. 5. Choose the ESDI shared int 14 driver from the list and press . 6. Highlight Configuration Option and press . Highlight the option you recorded earlier and press . 7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6, this time choosing the SCSI shared int 14 driver. 8. Continue with the file server installation as usual, following the screen prompts. NetWare v2.2 Installation (Advanced) 1. Use the DOS LABEL command to format a blank diskette. Label the diskette DSK_DRV_031 and copy the following files onto it: o .OBJ o .DSK 2.
