In order to generate the operating system copy all xCOMDRV.OBJ files to the GENOS-1 disk and proceed with a normal server generation. The binary file NP600DLA.BIN should be copied to a working copy of Novell diskette labeled SYSTEM prior to the installlation of the software on the hard disk of the file server. Novell default settings for NP600 ( configuration 1 of the file server ): I/O base address : 300 Hex DMA : Channel 7 Interrupt : IRQ9 Cable type : Thin Ethernet Transceiver : AC coupled This configuration can be obtained by closing jumpers IRQ9 and CH7, setting A9 and A8 to B, A7 trough A3 to A, W15 through W18 to B and moving the jumper block on W40 through W46 to position 1-3 (CNET). The interrupt level can be changed to IRQ3, IRQ5, IRQ11 and IRQ15 To change I/O base address use jumpers A9 through A3, where A9 is the most significant bit. Convert hex to bin, strip first two and last 3 digits. Position A is 0, position B is 1. To change to other DMA channels move two jumpers to CH1, CH3 or CH5. To change from Thin to standard Ethernet move the jumper block W40 through W46 to position 2-4 (ENET). When connecting to Thinnet make sure that the BNC connector does not touch the chassis of your PC. Note: 2.0a, NP600 drivers dated 10-19-87 3:05p ( 3286 bytes ) were tested with Compaq 386, 20MHz. NetWare 2.1 Installation. These drivers allow correct initialization in machines running at speeds up to 20MHz. Copy all ?N600DRV.OBJ files to your working copy of LAN_DRV_.003 diskette. Copy ETHNP600.LAN to your AUXGEN diskette. Run NETGEN. Drivers Made Available With Permission, Richard Henkus, MICOM-Interlan Various Commentary Excerpted With Thanks to Brightwork, Inc.
