Until now, users have not been able to run the low level format after Compsurf has been run on the drive. The low level format routine will report that it cannot locate the defect list and will terminate. "Format.exe" will restore the list so that the low level format will run. There is a revised ESDI driver available on NetWire as "ESDIFX.ARC" that will preserve the defect list. When this driver is used, "Format.exe" will not be necessary. ÿ
