ABSTRACT:
This format utility will restore the primary defect list on ESDI drives
used by the IBM PS/2 models 60 and 80.  The primary defect list is erased
by COMPSURF's format when not using the ESDIFX.EXE disk driver.

"Format.exe" will restore the primary defect list on ESDI drives used the
in the IBM Personal System/2 models 60 and 80. Until now, users have not
been able to run the low level format after Compsurf has been run on the
drive. The low level format routine will report that it cannot locate the
defect list and will terminate. "Format.exe" will restore the list so that
the low level format will run. There is a revised ESDI driver available on
NetWire as "ESDIFX.ARC" that will preserve the defect list. When this
driver is used, "Format.exe" will not be necessary.
