Disk Usage Statistics Generation Utility Alloc.exe produces a report of disk-space allocation and usage format: FSNAME USERNAME VOLUME ALLOCATION USED if the allocation is 0, and the used is not zero, then the fileserver name is prefixed with a '#' symbol. If the username ends with a :, then it is actually a disk information record, and the format is : FSNAME VOLUME VOLUME SIZE FREE This file format is intented to be used with an AWK script to produce some meaningfull output. An example script (report.awk) is included which produces a TeX document. At Salford we collect statistics from several fileservers into one file, sort it, then run report. This utility can be run by any user; if you are not logged in it will only return the volume information records. An except from our staff server is shown below; I hve commented it, comments are prefixed with ';' and are not produced by the program.
