The bitmap editor is a mouse driven utility that allows the user to edit textmode bitmaps for use in the B-Login v2.0 Novell(R) Network login utility. After 'Set Brush' has been selected, a dialog box appears asking for the mouse button that the user desires to change the properties of. Clicking on either the Ý Left Ý or Ý Right Ý dialog button brings up the character and color selection dialog box. Click on the desired color and/or character that is going to be used to draw with. >>{Menu Line Options:HMenuLineOptions}<< .topic HLoad ²±° Load ²±° When the 'Load' menu line option is chosen, a file dialog box appears requesting the user for the desired background bitmap. Any sized bitmap can be loaded, but it will always be placed on the background. '@.BM' is the default file extension used for loading a bitmap. NOTE: B-Login v1.2b and below bitmaps should load properly with this bitmap editor. B-Login v2.0 saved bitmaps will not work with B-Login versions 1.2b and below. >>{Menu Line Options:HMenuLineOptions}<< .topic HSave ²±° Save ²±° Choosing 'Save' will bring up a file dialog box requesting the user for the desired path to save the background bitmap to. Regardless of the video mode, the background bitmap will be saved as if the higher resolution mode were being used. This will work fine for the lower resolution also. The background bitmap will be saved with the default '.@BM' extension unless the user chooses otherwise. >>{Menu Line Options:HMenuLineOptions}<< .topic HToolBox ²±° Tool Box ²±° Selecting 'Tool Box' from the main menu line with put a tool box menu on the screen. This tool box has all the commands necessary for creating bitmaps for use in B-Login v2.0. Holding down the left mouse button and moving the mouse will draw with the brush style defined for the left mouse button. In the same fashion, using the right mouse button to draw with will place characters on the background using the right mouse button color and character attributes. >>{Tool Box Options:HToolBox}<< .topic HDrawText ²±° Tool Box | Draw Text ²±° The 'Draw Text' tool box option allows the user to type text on background in the color of the color attribute of the left mouse button. To position the text cursor on the background, either click at some location with the mouse or use the arrow keys. The following is a list of keys used to help in editing. Arrow Keys - Reposition text cursor. - Places cursor at start of current line. - Places cursor at end of current line. - Places cursor at top of background. - Places cursor at bottom of background. - Toggles insert and overwrite editing modes. NOTE: ÝAlt-TÞ can also be used to start text drawing. >>{Tool Box Options:HToolBox}<< .topic HFilledBox ²±° Tool Box | Filled Box ²±° The 'Filled Box' tool box option allows the user to draw filled boxes using the color and character attributes of the respective mouse button. Hold down the desired mouse button and drag the mouse to draw a filled box on the background. >>{Tool Box Options:HToolBox}<< .topic HChangeCharacter ²±° Tool Box | Change Character ²±° The 'Change Character' tool box options allows the user to change only the character of a region on the background. By holding down either the left or right mouse buttons and dragging the mouse, the user can change the characters of a region on the background to the character of the character attribute of the mouse button being held down. The colors of the region will remain unchanged. >>{Tool Box Options:HToolBox}<< .topic HChangeColor ²±° Tool Box | Change Color ²±° The 'Change Color' tool box options allows the user to change only the color of a region on the background. By holding down either the left or right mouse buttons and dragging the mouse, the user can change the color of a region on the background to the color of the color attribute of the mouse button being held down. The characters of the region will remain unchanged. >>{Tool Box Options:HToolBox}<< .topic HCopyBitmap ²±° Tool Box | Copy Bitmap ²±° Choosing 'Copy Bitmap' from the tool box options allows the user to copy a square region of the background into a buffer for either saving to disk or pasting to a different location on the background. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the mouse to outline a region of the background to copy. Releasing the mouse button will place the selected region into a buffer in memory. See the information on {saving a bitmap:HSaveBitmap} to save a copied region of the background to disk. >>{Tool Box Options:HToolBox}<< .topic HPasteBitmap ²±° Tool Box | Paste Bitmap ²±° The 'Paste Bitmap' tool box option allows the user to paste a bitmap to some location on the background. To paste a bitmap somewhere on the background, hold down the left mouse button and move the bitmap with the mouse to the desired location. Releasing the left mouse button will then paste the bitmap in the desired location. Type {ÝAlt-UÞ:HUndo} to undo a paste. NOTE: If {'Load Bitmap':HLoadBitmap} has been used to load a bitmap from disk into memory, and {'Copy Bitmap':HCopyBitmap} has not been used since loading from disk, the loaded bitmap will be pasted. >>{Tool Box Options:HToolBox}<< .topic HSaveBitmap ²±° Tool Box | Save Bitmap ²±° The 'Save Bitmap' tool box option allows the user to save the bitmap that is in memory from either a {'Copy Bitmap':HCopyBitmap} or {'Load Bitmap':HLoadBitmap} operation.
