NOVELL TECHNICAL INFORMATION DOCUMENT TITLE: ROUTE.NLM for NetWare 3.x and 4.x DOCUMENT ID: TID013428 DOCUMENT REVISION: A DATE: 15SEP93 ALERT STATUS: Yellow INFORMATION TYPE: Symptom Solution README FOR: SRTFX.EXE NOVELL PRODUCT and VERSION: NetWare 3.11 NetWare 3.12 NetWare 4.01 ABSTRACT: This ROUTE.NLM fixes a problem on NetWare 4.x servers with slow response caused by a limit of 79 entries to the Source Routing Table. Under these limitations, packets sent to a node not in the source routing table would be sent as Single Route Broadcasts. Now, more entries can be added to the Source Routing Table as long as there is enough memory in the file server. This ROUTE.NLM can be used on NetWare 3.x servers as well as on NetWare 4.x servers. However, on a small network, no symptom is apparent. CAUSE On NetWare 4.x servers only 79 entries are added to the Source Routing Table. Any packet being sent to a node not in the Source Routing Table would be sent as a Single Routes Broadcast. SOLUTION With this new ROUTE.NLM, more entries can be added to the source Routing Table as long as there is enough memory in the file server.
