EtherExpress 16TP LEDS INTEL EtherExpress(tm) 16 FAMILY OF NETWORK ADAPTERS ==================================================== The LEDs on earlier versions of the EtherExpress 16TP adapters were vertical. The LEDs on the current versions are horizontal. With this change in orientation some functions also changed: - On the earlier versions of the EtherExpress 16TP adapters, the Link light would blink as soon as you connected the cable to the RJ-45 port. Most of the newer boards work the same way, but if the LED does not start blinking when you connect the cable, LOAD THE DRIVER. There was one version of the board that required the driver be loaded before the Link light would work. This also applies to the EtherExpress 16C and FlashC. - The newer boards (with the horizontal LEDs including the EtherExpress 16TP, 16C, FLASHC, and MCA/TP) can detect if the polarity of the RX and TX lines is reversed and compensate. - The TX/RX LED on the earlier versions of the EtherExpress 16TP doubled as a POWER light. The newer boards do not have this feature.
