DEC 1994 Windows for Workgroups v3.11 Driver Installation for D-Link DE-650 PCMCIA Ethernet Adapter ================================================== *********************************** NOTE *********************************** Each DE-650 series adapter comes with a driver diskette of its own. If you have more then one model of DE-650 adapter, make sure that you use the driver diskette that was included with the DE-650 adapter you are using. **************************************************************************** The DE650 Ethernet LAN drivers of DE-650 cards for Windows for Workgroups contained in this diskette are as follows: Files Contents -------------- --------------------------------------------------------- DE65N.386 D-Link NDIS 3.0 WFW driver for Windows for Workgroups. DE65N.DOS D-Link NDIS 2.0 DOS driver for Windows for Workgroups. DE65NODI.COM D-Link ODI driver for Windows for Workgroups. NET.CFG NET.CFG file for Windows for Workgroups. OEMSETUP.INF OEMSETUP file for Windows for Workgroups. \DISK1 needed for installation ****************************************** * DE-650 Driver in PCMCIA Environments * ****************************************** DE650 NT driver and DE650 WFW 3.11 driver comply to NDIS 3.0 specs. and are supported only for Intel 82365SL PCMCIA adapter and there is no need to run DCD16.EXE. Note: CardTalk uses DataBook PCMCIA adapter, because DE-650 cannot open the resource windows on DataBook TCIC series chip. The following is suggested solution for DE650 card in WFW 3.11: 1. Use DCD16.EXE ,DE65N.DOS, and OEMSETUP.INF without slot parameters in Card Service, CardTalk, or Intel 82365SL PCMCIA adapter environment. In DE65N installation in WFW 3.11 network card setup: choose NDIS REAL MODE driver(NDIS2) CONFIG.SYS: device=ss.exe device=cs.exe device=dcd16.exe or device=ss.exe device=cs.exe device=scd.exe or // only in Intel 82365SL PCMCIA adapter device=dcd16.exe /slt:n 2. Use DE65N.386 and OEMSETUP.INF with additional slot parameters in only Intel 82365SL PCMCIA adapter environment. In DE65N installation in WFW 3.11 network card setup: choose NDIS REAL/ENHANCED MODE driver(NDIS2/NDIS3) CONFIG.SYS: none *********************************************************** * DE-650 Driver Setting in Windows for Workgroups V3.11 * *********************************************************** Because DE-650 is a PCMCIA driver and PCMCIA needs the extra settings of slot number and memory base, these settings are needed to be chosen. That is, users have to choose the settings of IO Base, Interrupt Number, Mem Base, and PCMCIA Slot Number. *********************************************** * Windows for Workgroups V3.11 Installation * *********************************************** Installation Procedure: (1) When LAN drivers is installed, Windows for Workgroups will present a list of all available drivers. Since there will be no D-Link DE-650 drivers initially, select UNLISTED for 3rd party adapters not in the driver list. (2) Windows for Workgroups will ask for the drive/path containing the DE-650 Windows for Workgroups drivers. Insert the D-Link driver diskette in drive A: and respond with the following A:\IBMPC\WFW311 (3) Windows for Workgroups will attempt to locate an OEMSETUP.INF file in the specified path. If you have entered the path name correctly, Windows for Workgroups should copy the appropriate drivers to the Windows for Workgroups system. (4) At this point, the driver would have been properly copied and the installation would proceed to the next step. Please refer to your Windows for Workgroups installation guide for correct procedures. (5) After the initial installation, the DE-650 drivers will be permanently copied to the Windows for Workgroups system. Subsequent network driver lists will already contain D-Link DE-650 drivers.
