D-Link NDIS driver program support the following network operating systems: MS LAN Manager v2.1 DECnet PathWork v4.0 WIN/TCP PathWay Access for DOS v1.1 3COM 3+ Open v1.1 Banyan VINES v4.00(2) IBM LAN Support Program v1.2.1 Windows for Workgroups v3.1 *********************************************** * How to install NEC65.DOS on MS LAN MANAGER * *********************************************** 1) Prepare a diskette with volume name "DOS_DRV_DLK" and create directories in the following manner: >label a: DOS_DRV_DLK --insert a blank disk in drive 'A' >md MSLANMAN.DOS --make a directory called MSLANMAN.DOS >cd MSLANMAN.DOS >md DRIVERS --make a directory called DRIVERS >cd DRIVERS >md ETHERNET --make a directory called ETHERNET >md NIF --make a directory called NIF >cd ETHERNET >md NEC65 --make a directory called NEC65 MSLANMAN.DOS (root) | DRIVERS ________|_________ | | ETHERNET NIF | ------------- | | NEC65 2) Insert the DE-650 driver program diskette in drive 'A' and insert the prepared diskette (DOS_DRV_DLK) in drive 'B'. Execute this SETUP program to specify the proper driver for DE-650 card. -If you are installing LAN Manager for the first time, do the following: Upon completion of retrieval of the last workstation's disk contents, you will be asked if you want to import additional network drivers. Answer "YES". -If you have already installed LAN Manager in your hardisk, do the following: Select the Configuration menu, and then select "Add New Config" option. Afterwards, choose the "Other Driver" option. 4) Insert the prepared diskette (DOS_DRV_DLK) in drive 'A' and follow the instructions on the screen. The SETUP program will copy the necessary NDIS driver programs from the DOS_DRV_DLK diskette to your hardisk (into the LAN Manager directory). 5) After completion of the SETUP, your CONFIG.SYS file will be modified and contain statements referring to the D-Link NDIS driver programs. 6) Add PCMCIA initial program statement to CONFIG.SYS before NEC65.DOS Please see as following: First: 1. Insert the prepared diskette (DOS_DRV_DLK) in driver 'A'. 2. Create a bootable diskette (booted with DOS 3.1 or above) which will be used as boot diskette of Banyan VINES workstation or create a sub-directory on your hard disk. There are two methods to copy the required files for Banyan VINES workstation to the bootable diskette or sub-directory of hard disk. Method 1. 1) Execute 'INSTALL' command which was saved in the diskette labeled "VINES MASTER DISK". 2) Follow the instructions to copy the files to the bootable diskette or sub-directory of hard disk. Method 2. 1) Execute 'BAN' command. 2) Login VINES system. 3) Execute 'PCCOPY' command. 4) Select 'NDIS Ethernet' item and follow instructions as menu driven for copying the files to the bootable diskette or sub-directory of hard disk. 2. Insert the DE-650 driver program diskette in drive 'A' and insert the prepared bootable diskette in drive 'B'. Afterwards, copy the appropriate NDIS driver files NEC65.DOS from drive 'A' to 'B' or sub-directory of hard disk. 3. Create a CONFIG.SYS file which contains the following statements: *** PC installed NEC 9821 notebook's PCMCIA S/W *** device=c:\lanman\NCD.EXE [/iop:P0] [/mem:P1] [/irq:P2] [/slt:P3] device=c:\lanman\NEC65.DOS Please refer to \NECPC\INSTALL\README.DOC or \necpc\install.doc for detail information. Create a NEC65.NIF file and include the following statements in this file: Model = D-Link DE-650 Ethernet Card Path = A:\ DeviceDriver = NEC65.DOS DeviceName = NEC65$ Type = NDIS NOTE:" A:\" is the path which may be changed dependeding on the location of the files for BANYAN VINES workstation. 5. Execute 'PCCONFIG' command 1) When "CONFIGURING A PC FOR THE NETWORK" is displayed on the screen then select item '1 - Network Card Settings'. | When "Network Card Setting" is displayed on the screen then select item 'NDIS Ethernet'. | When "NDIS Ethernet" is displayed on the screen then set your choice for D-Link NIC Ex. Interrupt Level (2-15) : 3 PROTOCOL.INI bindings = NEC65 | 2) Return to Screen "CONFIGURING A PC FOR THE NETWORK" then select item '2 - Login Environment Settings'. | The "Network Card Setting" is displayed on the screen then select item 'NDIS Ethernet'. | then 'PCCONFIG.DB' file will be generated. 7. Reboot your computer. 8. Login into VINES by executing the 'BAN' command. ************************************************************** * How to install NEC65.DOS on IBM LAN Support Program v1.2.1 * ************************************************************** Supposing that you have installed the IBM LAN Support Program in your computer, you can use NEC65.DOS to replace the installed driver program. Follow the instructions below to change the contents of CONFIG.SYS and PROTOCOL.INI files. 1. Copy NEC65.DOS to the directory where your IBM LAN Support program resides. 2. Modify the PROTOCOL.INI file as follows: BINDINGS = NEC65 : : [NEC65] DRIVERNAME = NEC65$ *********************************************************** * How to install NEC65.DOS on Windows for Workgroups v3.1 * *********************************************************** There are two methods for installing DE-650 using Windows for Workgroups v3.1 1. Install a compatible network adapter Using a compatible driver that is provided by Microsoft. The following table correlates the drivers that is provided by Microsoft to the various compatible D-Link adapters. Installation guide: a. Proceed to install Windows for Workgroups. If you already have an installed Windows for Workgroups, open the Control Panel Window to change the network settings. b. When Windows asks for the type of network adapter, select the appropriate network adapter following the table provided above. c. Input the corresponding settings such as IRQ and I/O port address. After checking all the settings, choose OK and restart Windows for Workgroups. 2. Manual editing of pre-selected configuration Involves manual editing of installed Windows for Workgroups configuration files using pre-selected NE2000 driver. Please refer to WFW1.DOC for detailed installation procedures. 3. Menu-driven installation Using a D-Link supplied OEMSETUP.INF file, the user can choose to install the appropriate D-Link adapters through a menu.
