The information contained in this README file is to offer help with connecting to your network using a Megahertz Lan only card (XJ10BT) or Combo cards (XJEM3288, XJEM3336) and Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups. The entries in each of the following example files is in proper order. However, these are only the entries needed to help in establishing a network connection using a Megahertz card and Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups. After the card has been installed, look in the CONFIG.SYS, AUTOEXEC.BAT and NET.CFG files to verify some entries: CONFIG.SYS: DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS X=DXXX-DXXX (Usually D000-D1FF) LASTDRIVE=Z DEVICE=C:\MHZ\ENABLE.EXE (The default directory is MHZ, but it could be whatever you have named it.) AUTOEXEC.BAT: (These three Drivers are ODI drivers and are usually located in the MHZ\ODI or NWCLIENT Directory) C:\MHZ\ODI\LSL.COM C:\MHZ\ODI\MHZETH.COM C:\MHZ\ODI\IPXODI.COM C:\MHZ\ODI\VLM PS=Server Name (The server name is defined by your network administrator.) (The VLM driver needs to bind to a server, so declaring it this way gives the driver the information it needs). NET.CFG: (These are examples and may vary from machine to machine.) PORT 320 INT 5 COMBASE 2E8 COMIRQ 3 (The COMBASE and COMIRQ lines are only used for the Combo cards.) Netware DOS Requester FIRST NETWORK DRIVE = F NETWARE PROTOCOL = NDS BIND PREFERRED TREE = XXXX NAME CONTEXT "AAA.BBB.CCC" (The above entries will be different based on how your network is set up. Contact your network administrator for this information.) MEDIA_TYPE 10BASET ERX 7
