MICROSOFT WINDOWS MOUSE INSTALLATION (VERSIONS 3.0 AND 3.1) Windows 3.0 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- If your mouse is plugged into the PDP port of your computer, tell Windows that there is a PS/2 mouse installed. If you are using a serial port, install Windows as either a Microsoft Mouse on COM1 or COM2 (2-button mode), or as a Mouse Systems PC Mouse on COM1 or COM2 (3-button mode). A. Driver Files There are 2 drivers for Mouse Systems Mice and Windows 3.0: 3BC2WIN3.DRV - driver for 3-button protocol mouse on COM2. GNRWIN3.DRV - driver for 2-button AND 3-button protocol mice (or PC Trackball) on COM ports OR bus card. B. Installation To install the above drivers, 1. change directory to your "Windows" directory and type SETUP 2. use UP cursor key to select "Mouse:" on the 1st SETUP screen and press 3. use DOWN cursor key to select "Other" on the 2nd SETUP screen and press 4. SETUP will now display the default drive and directory where Windows mouse driver(s) can be found. Insert the driver disk into either drive A: or B: If the prompt is for the B drive, then replace the A:\ with B:\. Finally type: WIN30 . NOTE: The final prompt should read either: A:\WIN30 or B:\WIN30 5. SETUP displays the description of the 2 drivers: Mouse Systems, GENERAL VERSION, Windows 3.0 Mouse Systems 3 Button Mouse on COM2, Windows 3.0 use the cursor keys to select one of the Windows 3.0 drivers and press . 6. select "Complete Changes:" and press . While Microsoft Windows does provide support for all Mouse Systems mouse products by way of the Windows Setup program, Mouse Systems has created more powerful drivers which are included on this diskette. To install these Windows drivers do the following: 1. Place the Mouse Systems driver disk in drive A or B (we will assume drive A.) 2. Change to the Window subdirectory by typing: CD \WINDOWS (This assumes that "Windows" is where Windows has been installed.) 3. Type SETUP at the DOS prompt. 4. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Mouse entry and press Enter. 5. Scroll to the bottom of the list of mouse devices to the selection of Other and press Enter. 6. When prompted by SETUP, indicate the drive where the Mouse Systems driver disk is located. 7. Select the correct driver for your mouse by highlighting and pressing Enter. 8. If Windows asks if you wish to install the new driver, indicate Yes by pressing the escape key (Esc.)
