When you restart the computer, check "Hard disk controllers" in Device Manager. This will tell you if the EIDE2300PLUS driver is installed correctly or not. If it is not correct, reconfigure or remove it and install it again. 2. If a red X shows up on the driver in Device Manager, high- light the driver, click on "System Properties", and then "Resources" to make sure the Basic Configuration is correct. The driver controlling the primary controller should be Basic Configuration 0 (IRQ 14 - Input/Output Range 1F0-1F7), and the driver controlling the secondary controller should be Basic Configuration 1 (IRQ 15 - Input/Output Range 170-177). 3. If you have more than 3 hard drives (or want to use a drive letter after E:), add LASTDRIVE=Z in CONFIG.SYS. 4. When you shutdown the system, if you do not see the "Safe To Shutdown" message for a long time, press two or three times. 5. You can install a different driver for Primary and Secondary IDE port, and each port needs a driver to support it. For example: PTIATAPI driver installed for port 0X1Fx(Primary IDE), Standard IDE/ESDI driver installed for port 0X17x(Secondary IDE). #End
