1. INSTALLING OS/2 DEVICE DRIVERS
----------------------------------
* Although SCSI BIOS can access the SCSI hard disk drives attached to the
computer independently, the SCSI device driver OS2CAM.ADD acts as an
enhanced interface between your computer system and the SCSI BIOS firmware.
Use of the device driver increases the abilities of the SCSI host bus
adapter firmware and fully utilizes the advancements and improvements of
80386 and higher microprocessors.
The device driver is also necessary to support the use of SCSI tape drives
and CD_ROM drives with an OS/2 system. The NCR OS2CAM.ADD device driver
also supports other manufacturers' SCSI software written in compliance with
the IBM OS/2 ADD (Adapter Device Driver) specification. The SCSI hard disk
drive and OS/2 should already be installed before installing the device
driver.
(1) COPY OS2CAM.ADD and OS2CAM.DDP from \OS2 directory on the drivers
diskette to root directory.
COPY A:\OS2\*.* A:\
if you are using 5 1/4" diskette drive for driver installation.
Format a 5 1/4" diskette and COPY OS2CAM.ADD and OS2CAM.DDP to
root directory of that diskette.
COPY B:\OS2\OS2CAM.* A:\
(2) At the OS/2 Desktop, double-click on "SYSTEM SETUP".
(3) Double-click on "DEVICE DRIVER INSTALL"
(4) Insert the floppy disk containing the NCR device driver in drive A:,
then click on the change button for drive c:.
(5) Choose "OS2" and click on the set button.
(6) Click the install button.
(7) Choose the NCR OS/2 2.X driver from the list provided by clicking on
it once. The choice will be highlighted. Then Click OK button, then
the EXIT button.
(8) To make sure that the installation was successful, open the productivity
folder on the OS/2 Desktop, then double-click the OS/2 System Editor
to start the editor. Open the CONFIG.SYS file under root directory
and find the line:
BASEDEV=OS2CAM.ADD
Then check that the file OS2CAM.ADD is in the OS2 directory on drive c:.
