DTC3270/3280 Addendum This addendum to the DTC 3270/80 Installation guide contians important information concerning some recent changes made to the DTC 3270/80 controller. SUMMARY OF CHANGES: 1- New DOS driver installation program included on DOS Driver Diskette 2- New BIOS on DTC 3270/80 performs faster scan of SCSI bus 3- Floptical Drive Support 4- Troubleshooting update EZ-INSTALL To install the DOS drivers onto the SCSI hard drive and to properly update config.sys and autoexec.bat, you will need to run the new "DTC EZ-Install" utility program. Insert the DTC "DOS, Novell Driver Diskette" in floppy drive (i.e. A:). From the DOS prompt, type the following: A: esinstl DTC 3270/80 Scanning Process and Driver Support When the DTC 3270/80 controller is the primary controller in a computer system, the bootable SCSI hard drive must be at SCSI ID 0. The DTC 3270/80 will scan for a bootable hard drive at SCSI ID 0 and then scan for a SCSI device at SCSI ID 1. When the DTC 3270/80 controller is a secondary controller in a computer system, it will scan for a SCSI device at SCSI ID 0 only. The following DTC drivers are affected by this new scanning process: ASCSI.EXE and ASCSI.SYS. With the new BIOS, it is important to know the SCSI ID of the SCSI hard drive or removeablae media drive attached to the DTC 3270/80. The following matrix will outline when a DTC driver is needed and what SCSI ID the drive should be set to: If the DTC 3270/80 is the primary controller in the system and If 1 SCSI Hard drive is connected to DTC 3270/80 If 2 SCSI Hard Drives are connected to the DTC 3270/80 If 3 SCSI Hard Drives are connected to DTC 3270/80 If 1 Removeable Hard Drive is connected to the DTC 3270/80 SCSI ID must be 0. No Driver needed. 1 SCSI ID must be 0. If 2nd drive has ID = 1, no ASCSI.SYS needed. If ID > 1 then ASCSI.SYS is needed. 1 SCSI ID must be 0 and must load ASCSI.SYS. If this drive is at SCSI ID = 0 or 1, then must load ASCSI.EXE. If SCSI ID > 1 or threre are more than 2 SCSI drives, must load ASCSI.SYS If the DTC 3270/80 is a secondary controller in a system )i.e. one WD1003 or ST506 controller is primary) and If 1 SCSI Hard Drive is connected to the DTC 3270/80 If 2 SCSI Hard Drives are connected to the DTC 3270/80 If 3 SCSI hard drives are connected to the DTC 3270/80 If 1 Removeable Hard Drive is connected to the DTC 3270/80 If SCSI ID is 0, then DO NOT load ASCSI.SYS. If SCSI ID is > 0 must load ASCSI.SYS. Must load ASCSI.SYS and cannot have SCSI ID = 0. Must load ASCSI.SYS and cannot have SCSI ID = 0. Must load ASCSI.SYS, SCSI ID must be 1 or higher. If you are confused as to how to set up the CONFIG.SYS, then simply run the DTC install programa when the DTC ASPI Manager is loaded. The install program will detect all SCSI devices connected to the DTC 3270/80 and automatically set up CONFIG.SYS for you. Floptical Drive Support The DTC 3270/80 provides support of Flopitcal drives though the use of an ASPI utility, such as CORELSCSI ! TroubleShooting Correction to page 20 of the DTC Installation Guide. When the new DTC BIOS scans the SCSI bus, you will NOT see SCSI ID 0 through ID 7 appear on your screen. You wll only see SCSI ID 0 and SCSI ID 1. If you would like to see the full scan of all SCSI devices connected to the DTC 3270/80 at boot, then press simultaneously when you see the heading SCANNING SCSI DEVICE ID ....
