        "DPT SCSI Supports OS/2 and LAN Manager Allows Disk and   
         Tape On the Same Controller"


Maitland, Florida - Distributed Processing Technology (DPT), is now
shipping a device driver for its SmartCacheț Plus SCSI controllers
that allows both disk and tape drives to be attached to the same
controller under LAN Manager and OS/2. To add both disk and tape
backup using other controllers requires two controllers which takes
an extra bus slot and adds additional cost.

SmartDriver for OS/2, the latest addition to DPT's suite of device
drivers, works with IBM and Microsoft's OS/2 versions 1.21 and 1.3
and Microsoft's LAN Manager. All major SCSI disk drives and a
number of cartridge tape drives and DAT drives are supported,
including popular models from Archive, Tandberg, Wangtek and
Exabyte.

Tape backup is accomplished using Sytos Plus File Management
software for OS/2 from Sytron Corporation. Sytos Plus is included
with LAN Manager and is also available separately for single-user
computers running OS/2.

In addition, the new software allows two SmartCache Plus SCSI
controllers to reside on the same ISA or EISA bus with as many as
7 SCSI devices attached to each controller. DPT's OS/2 device
driver also allows the use of LAN Manager's fault-tolerance
duplexing and disk mirroring options.
                          
DPT's SmartCache Plus SCSI controllers are cache-convertible,
meaning they can be configured as either caching or non-caching
controllers. This flexibility allows SmartCache Plus controllers to
be placed in a variety of environments, from single-user
workstations to multiuser systems or local area networks.


Suggested list price for the OS/2 device driver software is $80.
